XF2 Press Conference...Part II
March 13th 2008 21:56
Okay, so to avoid completely revamping the last post, I decided to add a Part II. I've watched the press conference, and tried to sum up some of the best/funniest/most hints at what's to come parts for you here.
Just a quick reminder, Chris Carter, Frank Spotnitz, and David Duchovny were all there to answer questions. Gillian Anderson wasn't there because she was sick.
What we’ve learned:
*Vancouver is standing in for some place on the east coast of the US.
*The real “Larry” (a.k.a. Chris Carter’s dog) makes a brief cameo in the movie.
*David Duchovny has and always will love Vancouver. It’s a “home away from home” for him. (There never was a “controversy”, please just leave the poor guy alone! LoL
)
*A 60-year-old man in Japan once told Chris The X-files was his favorite show since Bonanza. How cool is that?
*Reporter: [In the movie] is there some kind of undercurrent of lust or desire between the two of you? Because in the photo I saw, you guys were… kissing…
David: Oh were those the paparazzi photos? *laughs* We staged that.
Reporter: Well, yeah.
David: Maybe…
*Reporter: I guess, will we believe that they have something going on?
David: Well it’s the heart of the show. I mean we’ve described this, uh…*covers, mic, asks Chris something, to which he shakes his head, laughs and pretends to have a secret conversation with Chris.*
Reporter: We all want to know.
David: Chris and Frank have described this movie, and the whole series, as a love story. And I’m thinking that’s sometimes chaste and sometimes uh, a very driven way. So that continues, that’s an elemental part of The X-files. So without that, without that love—whether it’s spiritual or sexual or whatever you want to say into it, that’s half the show.
Reporter: But do you finally get together?
*everyone laughs*
*Is it going to leave the fans hanging for another movie? There can always be another one, but we won’t be left hanging.
*As we already know, it’s definitely a stand-alone story, no aliens and conspiracy for this movie.
*David wrapped the night before the press conference and is now back in LA to start shootitng Californication's second season.
*After David says if they want to ask him any last minute questions before he has to leave, he’d be happy to answer them…
Reporter: What do you think the future of serialized television is?
David: Holy crap! *everyone laughs* Uh…I don’t know. You hope that it’s good. When you get people like Chris and Frank who can make great serialized television, it’s great to have. It all comes from an idea, you know? And Chris had the idea, and then it was able to generate. Anybody can shoot a good pilot, or a bad one, and the question then becomes does your setup generate stories, feelings…and this did.
*Reporter: In the event of a third movie, will you be coming back to the conspiracy?
Frank: Maybe in the fourth movie.
*David gives Frank and Chris both a hug before leaving to catch his plane, saying he’ll talk to them later…
Once again, a video of the conference can be found HERE.
