Weeds

“I'm the suburban baroness of bud, Nancy.”
Some time later this year, Channel 9 are supposed to be showing the US cable show Weeds. After catching a few episodes, I want to tell them to hurry it on up
Mary Louise Parker kicked the butts of all four Desperate Housewives in her category and walked away with a shiny Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, and I can see why.
On Weeds she plays Nancy Botwin, a single mother of two boys whose husband recently died of a heart attack. She lives in the swanky upper class suburb of Agrestic, and… is the local pot dealer.
Her brother in law Andy is a hilarious, slightly psychotic freeloader, and her kids Silas and Shane have their own oblivious adolescent problems. The highlight of every episode is Nancy’s mandatory visit to her supplier, a motherly black woman named Heylia James. Add in her stoner accountant and completely self-absorbed, rich friend and this cast is about as mismatched and hilarious as you can get.
The show is laugh out loud funny and hilariously explicit, a definite must for any fans of Sex and the City or Desperate Housewives.
