Veronica Mars - Hi, Fidelity
November 9th 2006 02:37
Veronica Mars was quite a drama fest this week.
Veronica discovers one of the Hearst rape victims faked her rape, causing both the girl, and the head of the paper, who was forced to step down from her post, to vow revenge. If that wasn't enough, Veronica's still making plenty of enemies in class when she is the only student in her criminology class to recieve an A, and is then accused of plagiarism. She finally discovers the jealous TA framed her, in an effort to make her see that their criminology professor isn't the perfect heroic figure everyone thinks he is. She discovers this all right, busting him in a hotel room with the Dean's wife.
Piz invites her to go bowling, and when Wallace skips out it starts to look like a date set-up. I'm still not really feeling the chemistry between Piz and Veronica and I think I'm supposed to by this point, but anyway. Veronica innocently invites along Logan and Parker, and it ends up like the double date from hell for poor Piz. Parker proves she's an interesting, funny character and a good girl friend for Veronica who seems to be surrounded by guys while Mac is MIA. After Parker decides she has a crush on Piz, she asks Veronica to set them up, and they wander into the radio shack to visit him. Another guy, Mercer, who I know I'm supposed to remember as the guy who ran the student casino the other week but don't, is also there, and Parker recognises his colonge from the night she was raped before racing on out of there. Veronica quickly goes to Lamb, who shares a rare tidbit with her (I just love Veronica/Lamb scenes), claiming they found GHB amoung the stolen goods from the casino. And so they think they have their rapist.
Only Logan comes along, claiming Mercer was with him the night of the rape, only he can't say where. Oh Logan. Again with the secrets. Don't you know where that leads you with Veronica? I'm guessing some kind of gambling thing, because Logan wouldn't be Logan if he didn't have some kind of secret compulsive habit like drinking or beating the crap out of bike gangs, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Meanwhile, Keith is getting a little too chummy with Laura San Giacomo's character, and after a car accident decides to sleep with her, despite the fact that she IS MARRIED. Straight and narrow Keith Mars committing adultery, oh dear. That's going to end well.
And after getting busted for cheating, Wallace decides to ditch basketball for the semester to focus on mechanical engineering. I was just jazzed he had a storyline.
A very good episode, proving that Veronica is still uniquely adept at making enemies of her peers wherever she goes, and giving us some more tasty clues on the overall mystery (which should be wrapping up soon).
