Three Rivers Cancelled

December 6th 2009 00:25
My heart goes out to Alex O’Loughlin. We all know how much work and heart he put into both Three Rivers and Moonlight.

THREE RIVERS

Hey everyone…..

Well, like usual I have been meaning to write you all and, like usual, not getting around to it. Before Thanksgiving….. during

Thanksgiving….after Thanksgiving! But today, I thought I better get to it…..

A lot of you probably already know this, because you guys know what’s happening in my life before I do, but today I was informed that Three Rivers would soon draw to an end.

To be honest I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

After Moonlight was canceled I needed to go away and regroup for a while. I was hesitant to engage in another show at all, even when Three Rivers was proposed, but I realized immediately how important this story was and would be. This, the story of so many different people all around the world who’s lives have somehow been affected by organ donation and transplant medicine.

I often catch myself saying things like “We’re actors! We’re not curing cancer or feeding the hungry.” (Of course referring to the fact I don’t always feel that as an actor my job is that important or relevant.) But I soon realized that Three Rivers would be a source of great comfort to those aforementioned people, providing perhaps for the first time an accurate and cathartic experience directly related to that which they all shared.

Already in this short time I have received so many beautiful letters of support and gratitude from so many of you who have lost loved ones, and also shared the gift of life with others as a result of those tragedies. And this sudden cancellation has rocked me completely.

As most of you know, through Three Rivers I was blessed to have been afforded the chance to work with the organization Donate Life America. This potential opportunity was one of the main reasons I agreed to do the show, and having only recently finished my Ambassador training I had become an official spokesperson. We have done a couple of events and some PSA’s and there has been growing excitement about the possibilities of exposure and support we at Three Rivers could provide as the show gained in numbers and strength. Well, though the news of the show is heartbreaking I view it as nothing more than a temporary setback in the work I plan to do with Donate Life America. For me this is just the beginning of what I hope to be a long relationship.

To be honest I don’t really know what else to say. I am beginning my process of detachment and will be in touch soon.

All my love,….

Alex O’Loughlin x

If CBS knew what was good for the, they'd bring back Mick St. John! Or at least stop canceling all of their new shows. Have no fear Alex, no matter where you go, this is one fan who will continue to follow.

I'm getting to the point where I don't want to invest my time in any new series I loved Moonlight and they canceled. Now its the same with 3 rivers. I think the networks STINK. I really enjoyed the show. Especially the one with Mandy Patinkin. He should get an Emmy nomination for that one.

Ugh, I know! It seems to have gotten a lot worse these past few years. Now we're not even getting full seasons. If they want us to watch, I suggest they stop pulling every show before giving it a fighting chance!

Why can't there be a decent show to watch on a Sunday night that doesn't deal with violence, but about people making a difference. Three Rivers was wonderful!. This is such a disappointment.

I know Sheley. CBS might as well just rename themselves CSI. :/

There is a great show to watch on Sunday night:# It's called Californication on Showtime. Duchovny is teriffic as Hank Moody. For those that use to say he could only be Fox Mulder well..........you're wrong

And to the person that mentioned Eastwick's cancellation......yeah that stinks too:#

I cannot believe this is happening! I loved Alex in Moonlight. In fact, I just received the boxed set for Christmas. And now, Three Rivers has received the same fate as Moonlight. It's not fair that the big shots at CBS would pull the plug on two great shows. Alex--keep your chin up; you're a great actor. I just know that 2010 will be your year.

Sincerely,

Sharla

This show was awfully written and a horrible representation of hospital life. Glad its gone, should have never aired.

I disagree that it was horrible representation of hospital life. It was a show and a very good one. I was a the movies last night to see Sherlock Holmes. They showed the coming attractions of a new film with Alex. But for the life of me I can't remember the name of it.

Yes Meggie It looked really cute. I think it said it was opening in the spring? Now i have two films with stars that i love from TV to look forward too. Alec's film and The Joneses with David Duchovny .

I loved Alex and Kate in Three Rivers. It is such a disappointment that the show is cancelled. I started getting attached to the characters, and I felt like I was cheated by CBS when they stopped it so early. I will continue to follow their careers. (I am also excited to see The Back-Up Plan. It looks like a great movie!)

I'll admit after watching the first Three Rivers episode I had my doubts, not because of the actors, but because of the writing. However, I thought the show grew and showed a lot of potential each week.

I miss Moonlight. It was a fun show to have on Friday nights. Good luck to whatever Alex does. He's very talented - maybe they can work him into NCIS or something... not the new spin off the original so he can actually have a shot at some air time!

All networks care about is money anyway. They couldn't care less what the public is actually looking for. And is 1 season long enough to tell if a show is going to catch on?? Thank God NBC didn't cancel "Friends" after only 1 season . . . I didn't even start watching until middle of season 2 then I was HOOKED !!

I agree. Shows today do not get enough time to even grow a fanbase. It's like they expect everyone to just suddenly be there in 8 episodes! Then when we finally start to fall in love with the characters, they get taken away. :/ Some of the most successful shows in history didn't have the best of starts, but networks back then took a chance and today they're classics. I mean, look at The X-files. 16 years and counting and it's still going strong!
