Supernatural: Red Sky at Morning
November 9th 2007 04:32
Bela’s back and this time she cons the boys into a murder investigation involving a ghost ship. That’s right, think The Flying Dutchman. Anyone who sees this ship ends up drowning onland very soon afterward.
Dean and Sam argue about Sam killing the Crossroads Demon and Sam reminds him that he’s going to do whatever it takes to get Dean out of his deal and he’s not going to apologize for it.
The boys arrive in town, pose as detectives, and find out that someone named “Alex” is also working the case for a little old lady named Gert—a little old lady who turns out to have a thing for Sam. Dean goes outside and *GASP* The Impala is missing! He practically has a panic attack when a familiar evil voice asks, oh I’m sorry, was that your car?
They turn around to find out that “Alex” is really Bela. She tells Sam and Dean she knows which ship is haunting the area and why. Turns out a man was hanged...by his own brother the captain no less, right after they cut off his right hand. She also tells them she knows exactly where this hand is. The only problem is it’s on display in an alarm protected glass case.
Bela comes up with a plan, which Dean is, “So not cool with”. Sam isn’t exactly thrilled either. The plan involves dressing up in tuxes and going to a gala hosted by Gert. Unfortunately, Dean has to go as Bela’s date and Sam as Gert’s. The little old lady can’t keep her hands off him as he distracts their host while Dean and Bela go searching for The Hand.
While slow dancing to the longest song ever, Gert tells Sam the connection between the victims—they’ve all killed someone in their own families. Bela tells Dean where the hand is located as she waits in a private room, having pretended to faint. She steals a ship in a bottle while she waits.
Dean gets the hand easily and he and Bela return to Sam and Gert. Bela takes Gert home and Sam and Dean head out. Once in The Impala, Sam asks to see the hand and Dean reaches into his pocket and pulls out…the ship in a bottle. Bela probably would have gotten away with stealing the hand and shipping it halfway around the world if she didn’t happen to see the ghost ship herself.
She shows up at the house where Sam and Dean have been squatting in and tells them she saw it, and they realize just how evil she really is. When they ask her who she killed she tells them they wouldn’t understand, that no one did. Dean wishes her good luck, seeing as how she just sold the one thing that could save her life, but Sam lets her know that maybe there might be another way.
Despite their hatred for Bela (Dean especially), they wind up in the cemetery reuniting the captain’s ghost with the brother he killed and end up saving Bela’s life. She tosses them $10,000 because she doesn’t like being in anyone’s dept. The boys are disgusted that she’d rather throw money at them then a simple “thanks”. But they get over it quickly, and Dean decides he knows what they should do with the money.
Cut to: Sam: Atlantic City? Really?
Favorite quotes of the week:
Dean (after Bela gets The Impala towed): Can I shoot her?
Sam: Not in public.
