Brace yourselves people, this is the one where we finally find out what poor Sammy went through while Dean was gone. Be prepared...

Sam leans over a pool table, telling the man he’s playing, “Give me a chance to win it back.”
The guy shrugs. “It’s your cash.”
“Excuse me,” Dean interrupts, walking up to the pool table. “My brother’s a little sauced to be makin’ bets.”
“He insisted.”
“Yeah, but you’ve already taken, what? Two bills off him? I’m just sayin’.”
“Hey, shut up Dean,” Sam interrupts, leaning on his cue stick. “I’m fine.”
“No you’re not,” Dean argues. “You’re drunk.”
The guy playing Sam glances back and forth between brothers as Sam tells him, “Let’s make it five hundred.”
“Five hundred?” Dean can’t believe his brother’s uncharacteristic actions.
Sam stares at him, then puts $500 on the edge of the pool table. Alright then. “You’re break,” the guy tells him, and Dean holds his breath as Sam takes the shot.
Sam frowns at his break, then suddenly spots Ruby sitting at the bar. “Keep the money.” He drops his stick and both his opponent and Dean look at him like he’s crazy.
“Keep the money?” Dean can’t believe what’s happening here. “What—” He suddenly spots Ruby and walks over to the bar.
Sam: Hey.
Dean: You’ve got a lot of nerve showing up anywhere near me.
Ruby tells them she just has some information for them, then she’s gone. “I’m hearing whispers.”
“Ooh, great, demon whispers, that’s reliable!” Dean says sarcastically, wishing his brother would just stop talking to Ruby already.
She tells them about the missing girl, who she figures must be pretty important because the orders are to capture her alive. She figured they’d want to find the girl before the demons do. Dean glares at Ruby but Sam thinks maybe they should check it out.
Dean: Actually we’re working a case, but thanks.
Ruby asks what case it is, and Dean tells her they’ve got some leads. Big leads.
Ruby: Sounds dangerous.
Dean: Yeah, well it sure beats goose chasing after some chick that, for all we know, doesn’t even exist. Just because you say she’s important.
Ruby tells Dean that she’s just the messenger. She doesn’t care what they do with the information. “As far as I’m concerned, I told you, I’m done.”
Sam stops her, asking the name of the hospital that the girl escaped from.
~*~*~
Sam and Dean are driving at night in the rain. Sam gets off his phone. According to the hospital records, this Anna girl is real. Dean’s still not happy about this whole thing. Just because she’s real doesn’t mean the case is. Plus the hospital they have to go to is a three-day drive.
“We’ve driven further for a lot less, Dean,” Sam tells his brother, and Dean just shakes his head angrily.
Sam looks at him. “If you’ve got something to say, say it.”
“Oh I’m sayin’ it,” Dean cuts back. “This sucks.”
Sam points out that Dean’s not mad because they’re going after this girl, he’s angry because Ruby gave them the tip. Uh, yeah! Dean can’t understand how Sam can just trust her like “she’s practically family!” Sam just shakes his head, and Dean continues, angry. “You know, something MAJOR must have happened when I was downstairs, because I come back and you’re BFF with a DEMON?”
“I told you Dean, she helped me go after Lilith,” Sam answers calmly.
“Well thanks for the thumbnail, real vivid,” Dean says dryly. “You want to fill in a little detail?”
“Sure Dean, you first,” Sam answers. “You first, how was Hell? Don’t spare the details.”
They continue to drive in silence.

Six Months Earlier
Sam, looking awful, furiously buries the box at the crossroads, gets up, and takes a drink out of liquor bottle. He waits a while, then yells, “COME ON! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?!” He throws the bottle, and suddenly a new Crossroads Demon appears.
“Well I was wondering whether to come or not,” the guy answers. “I mean, you shot one of my coworkers.”
Sam glares at him and starts to walk over, swaying slightly.
“Don’t take this the wrong way,” the Crossroads Demon tells him. “But you don’t look so hot, buddy. I guess burying your brother didn’t agree with you.”
Sam lifts his hands. “Well?”
“I wanna see that special little knife of yours.”
Sam pulls it out and slams it down on a nearby makeshift table. “No devil’s traps either.” The Crossroads Demon doesn’t move, and Sam growls, “I’m not here to play games.”
“Well let me guess.” He steps up. “You want to make a deal? Round and around the Winchesters go.” He leans on the table. “Sorry Sam, that’s not gonna happen.”
Sam glares at him a moment, shakes his head, then suddenly jams the knife into the Crossroad Demon’s hand. “I don’t want ten years, I don’t want one year! I don’t want Sandy!” Sam says, more distraught than we’ve ever seen him before. “I want to trade places with Dean. “
“No.”
“JUST TAKE ME!” Sam shouts. “IT’S A FAIR TRADE!”
“No!”
The Crossroads Demon sneers back and Sam is near his breaking point. “Why not? Lilith wants me dead, just let Dean go! She can have me!”
“Don’t you understand Sam? It’s not about your soul,” The Crossroads Demon whispers back. “Dean’s in Hell. We’ve got him right where we want him. We’ve got everything exactly the way we wanted.” Suddenly he shouts, “You want to kill me? GO AHEAD! I’ve made peace with my lord.”
The Crossroad’s Demon sneers back as Sam shakes with anger.
~*~*~
Back in The Impala, Sam and Dean continue to drive in silence.
~*~*~
Dressed in their suits, Sam and Dean visit the hospital and talk to Anna’s doctor. She tells them that the guy Anna knocked out was knocked so hard he suffered some amnesia. He doesn’t even remember going into her room. Dean finds that surprising considering the guy had 80 pounds on her.
“We think she may have planned this. Waiting behind the door.”
“Right. You mentioned Anna’s illness was recent?”
The doctor tells them that two months ago Anna was just a regular journalism student, and then suddenly she just snapped. “Within weeks Anna was overtaken with delusions.”
“What kind of delusions?”
The doctor hands over Anna’s sketch pad. “She thought demons were everywhere.”
This catches both brother’s attention. As the doctor tells them it’s not uncommon for schizophrenics to “believe that monsters are real”, Dean watches Sam flip through the sketchbook. The sketches go from various versions of the same church stained-glass window, and then suddenly “The rising of the witnesses.”
Sam’s eyes widen as he stares at the words on the page and the drawing of the girl on the bottom. He glances at Dean, clears his throat, then turns the page.
“Samhain the next seal is broken” reads the next page in sharp letters. Underneath it is a picture right out of Sam and Dean’s Halloween.
Dean: It’s Revelations.
Doctor: Since when does Revelations have jack-o-lanterns?
Dean realizes she’s overheard him and answers, “It’s a, uh, little known translation.”
“Ah. Well Anna’s father was a church deacon,” the doctor tells them. “When she became ill her paranoia took on religious overtones. She was convinced the devil was about to rise up and end the world.”
Sam and Dean are both troubled by this, but neither say anything.
“I hope you find her,” the woman tells them. “It’s dangerous for her to be out in the world alone right now.”
~*~*~
Dean knocks on the door of Anna’s house, but nobody answers . “Maybe they’re not home.”
Sam glances at the driveway and points out that both the cars are there. Dean tries the door and finds it unlocked. They enter the house. “Mrs. Milton? We’re from the Sheriff’s department.”
“We just wanted to ask you a couple of questions,” Sam says, then stops when he spots the Miltons both dead on the floor, their throats slashed.
~*~*~
Sam leans down and finds sulfur on the floor. Well whoever it is, they’re not playing around. They obviously want this girl.
“Alright, so, I’m Girl Interrupted,” Dean says, grabbing some nearby mail to look through. “And I known the score of The Apocalypse. Just busted out of the nut box.” He looks up. “Possibly using super powers by the way. Where do I go?”
Sam picks up a family picture and frowns. He asks Dean if he still has the photos of the sketchbook, and when Dean hands them over, he flips through them until he gets to the sketch of the window.
Dean looks at the photo and then at the drawing. “She was drawing the window of her church.”
“Over and over again.” Sam points out that if demons were after you, and you were religious and scared, where would you go to feel safe?
~*~*~
Sam and Dean, back in their usual clothes, enter Anna’s church, weapon’s drawn.
“Dean,” Sam whispers to his brother, nodding towards the person hiding behind a stained glass panel. They both put their guns away.
“Anna?” Sam calls out. “We’re not gonna hurt you, we’re here to help. My name is Sam. And this is my brother Dean.”
“Sam?” Anna finally answers. “Not Sam Winchester.”
Sam and Dean look at each other.
“Uh, yeah.”
Anna walks out to look at them. “And you’re Dean. THE Dean?”
Still confused, Dean answers, “Well…yeah.” He offers a small smile. “THE Dean.” Sam rolls his eyes.
“It’s really you!” Anna walks up to them, telling them everything that’s happened to them both over the past few months. She tells them that the angels talk about them all the time. How Castiel pulled Dean out and how he’s there to save them. “And,” She turns to Sam. “Some of them don’t like you at all.” She tells them that they talk about them all the time lately. “I feel like I know you.”
“So you talk to angels?” Dean asks.
No, she just kind of…overhears them. In her head.
“Like right now?” Dean asks.
“Not right this second, no.” But a lot other times.
Dean: So they locked you up as crazy when really, you’re just tuned into angel radio?
Anna: Yes…thank you.
Okay then.
Sam asks her when the voices started, and she can tell them exactly when. “September 18.”
Sam and Dean immediately look at each other. This is not good.
Dean: The day I got out of Hell.
Anna: First words I heard, clear as a bell. ‘Dean Winchester is saved.’
They both just stare at her, and finally Dean asks Sam what he thinks. Sam has no idea. “It’s above my pay grade, man.”
Well at least they know why the demons want Anna so bad. “If they get a hold of you,” Dean tells her. “They can hear everything the other side is cookin’. You’re 1-900-Angel.”
Anna smiles, then asks about her parents. Before either Sam or Dean can answer, Ruby busts in. “You got the girl? Good let’s go.”
Anna freaks out. “Her face!”
Sam quickly assures Anna that Ruby’s here to help, but Dean mutters, “Don’t be so sure.” Ruby tells them t hey have to hurry.
Dean: Why?
Ruby: Because a demon’s coming, big time. We can fight later Dean.
Dean: Oh that’s pretty convenient. Showin’ up right when we find the girl, with some big wig on your tail?
Ruby argues that the demon isn’t there because of her. He’s there because he followed them from the girl’s house. “We gotta go now!”
Sam suddenly notices a statue of Mary crying blood, and Ruby tells them it’s too late. They’re here. Sam takes Anna over to a closet and tells her to “Stay there. Don’t move.” Scared, Anna agrees.
Sam rejoins Dean and Ruby, pulling out his flask of holy water, but Ruby tells him, “No Sam. You gotta pull him right away.”
“Whoa hold on a second—” Dean starts, but Rugy just interrupts that “Now’s not the time to bellyache about Sam going darkside, he does this, he exorcises that demon, or we die.”
Dean hates this, but stands behind his brother as Sam gets ready to take on the demon. The door opens and a man steps in. Sam takes a deep breath and holds up his hand. He tries to exorcise him, but the demon merely adjusts his collar and gives out a little cough. “That tickled.”
Sam lowers his hand. Not good!
“You don’t have the juice to take me on, Sam,” the demon tells him, then reaches his hand out to the air, and flings Sam out the door and down the stairs.
Furious, Dean pulls out the knife and attacks the demon, who blocks the knife. “Hello again Dean.”
Ruby goes over to open the closet and pulls out Anna.
The demon continues to beat up Dean, knocking the knife out of his hand. “Don’t you recognize me?” he asks. “Oh I forgot, I’m wearing a pediatrician.” He punches Dean again. And then again. “But we were so close. In Hell.” BAM! He punches him again.
Dean looks up, lip and nose bloody, and finally says, “Alastair.” He does recognize him.
Alastair hits him again, and suddenly Sam jumps in, stabbing him in the heart with the knife. Alastair sneers at him. “You’re gonna have to try a lot harder than that, son.” He shoves Sam away and pulls out the knife.
Sam goes over to make sure Dean’s okay, and they both glance at the large stain glass window at the front of the room. Before Alastair can turn back around, both boys jump out the window, falling out of the attic and onto the church’s front yard.
Alistair walks up to the window, slowly raising the knife. He backs away and leaves.
~*~*~
Sam is sewing up his arm and Dean is leaning over the sink, favoring his left arm. “You almost done?”
“I’m goin’ as fast as I can,” Sam answers, gritting his teeth as he continues to stitch himself up.
Dean turns around from the sink. “Good, cause I got a dislocated shoulder over here.”
“Yeah, I’ll pop it back when I finish.”
Dean takes a long drink, and Sam finishes sewing and reaches for the bottle. Dean hands it over and Sam pours it over his wound, gritting against the pain.
So Sam lost the magic knife, huh? Yeah, but saving Dean. Sam asks his brother who that demon was, and Dean just answers, “No one good.” Dean points out that they need to find Anna, and Sam tells him Ruby’s got her. He’s sure she’s okay.
“Alright, come on.” Sam gets up to pop Dean’s shoulder back in. “On three. One—”
*CRUNCH*
“Aah!” Dean walks off the pain and goes back to the mirror. “You sure about Ruby?”
“Yeah.”
“I think it’s just as likely that she used us to find radio girl, and then brought that demon in to kill us.”
“No,” Sam says, holding a towel up to his arm. “She took Anna to keep her safe.”
“Yeah…” Dean holds some ice up to his own shoulder. “Well why hasn’t she called to tell us where she is?”
“Because that demon is probably watching us right now. Waiting to follow us right back to Anna, again. That’s why he let us go.”
Dean lets out a humorless laugh. “You call this letting us go?”
“Yeah, I do,” Sam argues. “Look, killing us would have been no problem to that thing. That’s why for now, we just gotta lay low and wait for Ruby to contact us.”
“Yeah, how’s she gonna do that?”
Sam doesn’t answer, and finally Dean turns around. “Why do you trust her so much?”
“I told you…”
Dean tosses his ice pack into the sink, shaking his head. “You gotta do better than that. And I’m not trying to pick a fight here, I mean, I really want to understand.” Sam swallows hard as Dean adds, “But I need to know more, I mean I deserve to know more.”
Sam stares at the floor for a long time, then answers, “Because…she saved my life.”
~*~*~
Six Months Earlier
A red-eyed, haggard Sam staggers into a hotel room. Clearly he’s been crying and drinking. He pauses, noticing something’s not quite right, and gets punched in the jaw. A demon holds him as another searches Sam’s pockets. She finds the knife. “Thanks for keeping this warm for me, Sam.”
“Ruby.”
Ruby, in a new body but not the one we know, holds up the knife to Sam’s neck. “It’s nice to be back.” She tells him that Lilith gave her one more chance. “And all I had to do was find you, and kill you.”
Sam glares at her. “Fine!” She shoves off the other demon, offering up his neck for a clear shot. “Do it.”
Ruby pulls back the knife and jabs it into the demon standing behind Sam. “Grab your keys. We gotta go.” Sam stares at her. “Now!”
~*~*~
Six Months Earlier
Sam drives The Impala. Ruby sits in the passenger seat telling him that she wants some french-fries, oh and maybe a thanks. Sam stares stonily at the road. “Who asked for your help?”
She tells him that he has no idea what she’s been through. When Lilith gets angry, she gets creative. “Do you want to hear about the corners of Hell I’ve seen Sam?”
“No, I don’t.”
“And the things I had to do to convince her that I was sorry.”
“Well this will definitely get you a fat Christmas bonus,” Sam answers dryly.
“Very funny.” She argues that she did all of this to get back to him, so yeah she still thinks she deserves a thank-you.
Still angry, Sam asks, “Who asked you to save me?”
“I’m just trying to help.”
“Can you help me save Dean?”
“No. Nothing I know of is powerful enough to do that.”
Okay then. Sam swings The Impala off to the side of the road, stopping. “Then I have no use for you.”
“What?”
“Get out.”
“Sam.”
“Who’s body are you riding, Ruby?”
She frowns at him. “You’ve never asked me that before.”
“I’m asking now.”
“A secretary.”
Sam glares at her. “Let her go.”
“Sam—”
“Or I send you right back to Hell.”
~*~*~
The body we now know as Ruby is lying in a hospital with the name “Doe, Jane” attached to the bottom of the bed.
“Alright, pull it,” The doctor announces, and another one pulls the tubes from the body. The machines start to beep faster and faster until they finally flatline.
The body gasps back to life and the doctors stare at her in shock. Ruby looks at them. “Who do I have to kill to get some french-fries around here?”
~*~*~
Sam is sitting alone at a table in an old abandoned building cleaning his gun by the streams of sunlight filtering in through the boarded up, vine-covered window. There’s a knock at the door, and he grabs his shotgun and heads down a dirty hallway to answer it.
“Proof,” Ruby tells him, holding up the death certificate. “This body is 100% socially conscious. I recycle. Al Gore would be proud.”
Sam looks at the death certificate as Ruby lets herself in. “You grabbed a coma patient?”
“You didn’t want me to take a body with someone in it, so I made sure that the spirit was gone. The apartment was empty, you happy?”
“Why are you here?”
“I can’t bring Dean back,” she tells him. “But I can give you something else that you want.”
“Huh,” Sam huffs, dropping his gun to the shabby table and grabbing a bottle.
“Lilith.”
Sam’s smirk disappears. “You want me to use my psychic, whatever?”
“I know that it spooks you—”
“Skip the speech,” Sam interrupts. “I’m ready. Let’s go.”
“Slow down their cowboy.”
“Just tell me what I have to do.”
Ruby tells him that Lilith is thinking up something big. “Apocalyptic big.” They can’t just go in like last time. She tells him that they have a chance to get it right this time, they need to take it.
Okay fine, what does Sam have to do? What does she want from him? Ruby tells him all she wants is “a little patience. And sobriety. Promise me that, and I will teach you everything I know.”
~*~*~
Back in present day, Sam looks up at his brother sitting across the room from him.
“What’d she teach you?” Dean prompts.
“Well…” Sam struggles for the right words, then answers, “The first thing I learned was I’m crappy student.”
~*~*~
Six months earlier
Ruby stands by with the knife as Sam tries to use his powers for the first time on the demon trapped in the chair in the center of the room. Sam tries, but the demon sucks himself back into the body and smirks. Sam lifts his hand and tries again, harder this time, the effort making his nose bleed and his head hurt so bad he grabs it in pain.
The demon laughs. Ruby stabs him in the throat with the knife. “It’s not funny.”
Later on, Sam goes to his bag to take some Aspirin, and Ruby hovers behind him. “Just give it time, Sam. It’ll get better.”
He lets out a dry laugh. “What? I need more practice?” He takes the pills with the rest of the liquor in a nearly empty bottle.
“I’m not talking about pulling demons. I know losing Dean—”
“Hey!” Sam interrupts angrily. “I don’t want to talk about it.” Suddenly very angry, Sam asks, “You know what? What do you get off slapping me with that greeting card, time heals everything crap? What the hell do you know?”
“I used to be human,” Ruby tells him, taking a step forward. “And I still remember what it feels like to lose someone.” She lays a hand on his shoulder. “I’m sorry.”
Sam shoves her hand away. “Nu-uh, no. Don’t.” Suddenly fighting back tears, Sam swallows hard. “I can’t.”
“Sam you’re not alone.” Suddenly she kisses him. Sam shoves her away and gets up, walking across the room. “What are you doing?”
“Sam it’s okay!”
He scrubs off his lips as he sits down. “No, that is ANYTHING but okay!” Even slightly drunk and in extreme pain, Sam knows that is so wrong.
“What’s wrong?” Ruby asks, and Sam just looks at her like she’s insane. “What’s WRONG? Where do I start?” He continues to wipe at his mouth.
“Is it because of the body?” Ruby asks, tossing her coat away and kneeling in front of him. “Because I told you, it’s all me inside of here.” She grabs his hand. “There’s no one else in here. And it’s nice inside this body, Sam.”
Sam tries to fight it, closing his eyes and trying to pull his hand away as she holds it to her. “What are you doing?”
“Is it because you’re really scared to go there with a demon?” she teases, inches away from his face. “Because it’s wrong? And it’s bad?” she asks against his lips. “And you shouldn’t?”
Sam tries, he really does, but suddenly all his grief takes over, and he can’t stand it anymore. He grabs Ruby and kisses her hard. There’s nothing romantic about it as Sam gives in, if only just to stop feeling this torturous pain over losing his brother. Clothes start to fly and—
“Sam?” Dean interrupts his brother’s memory.
“Yeah?”
“Too much information!”
“I told you I was coming clean.”
“Yeah, but now I feel dirty.” Dean shudders. “Well, uh, brain-stabbing imagery aside, so far all you told me about was a manipulative bitch who uh, screwed you, played mind games with you, and did everything in the book to get you to go bad.”
“Dean, there’s more to the story,” Sam says wearily.
“Just…” Dean leans forward. “Skip the nudity. Please?”
Sam agrees, then continues, “Pretty soon after…that, uh, put together some signs. Omen.”
“Saying what?”
“Lilith was in town.” Sam swallows hard. “And I wanted to strike her first.”
~*~*~
Five Months Earlier
Sam is ready to go hunt Lilith down, right here, right now. Ruby stops him. “You get one shot. And you’re it. You’re the only one who can do it Sam. So if she kills you first…”
“What?”
“You don’t want to survive this,” Ruby says, suddenly realizing the truth. “You want to die fighting Lilith.”
“That’s stupid.” Sam grabs the knife and heads for the door.
Ruby chases after him. “No, it’s the truth! Because if you kill her and you survive this then you have to go on living without your brother!” She blocks the door. “This isn’t what Dean wanted, this isn’t what he died for!”
Sam glares at her. “Get out of my way.”
“No Sam. This is suicide.” She goes for the knife, but he slams her against the door, knife at her throat. He glares at her, then opens the door and leaves.
~*~*~
Five Months Earlier
Sam spots a little girl through the window of a house and sneaks in, knife ready. He closes the front door carefully, then reaches for the nearest doorknob. It’s a closet. Empty.
He continues through the darkened house, spotting the little girl sitting at a table. He inches forward, knife ready. Suddenly the girl turns to look at him. “Please, I want to go home!”she says, scared, and Sam hesitates.
It’s just enough of a distraction for a group of demons to overtake him. They slam him against the wall, knocking the knife from his hand. “Lilith sends her regrets,” one of them sneers. “She couldn’t make it.”
Sam stares at the knife on the floor. Ruby suddenly shows up, slashing through the demon holding Sam. “Take the girl and run!”
Sam grabs the little girl and gets her out. The demons and Ruby fight, until one finally knocks the knife out of her hand and slams her against the wall. He recognizes her. “Ruby! You’re in so much trouble.” He starts to choke her. “When we get you down in the basement? The things we’re gonna do to you…”
Suddenly black smoke starts to choke from his mouth. Sam has finally learned how to use his powers. He kills the demon with his mind.
“Sam?” Ruby asks.
Gasping for breath he assures her that he’s okay. “Thanks.”
~*~*~
Back in present day, Sam tells Dean, “Ruby came back for me. Whatever you have to say, she saved me…More than that she got through to me.” Sam shakes his head. “What she said to me…It’s what you wouldn’t have said. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be here.”
Dean takes this all in silently, and suddenly there’s a knock at the door. “Housekeeping!”
“Not now.”
“Sir, I’ve got clean towels.”
Oh fine. Dean gets up and answers the door. “Couldn’t you just leave them in the door?”
The maid walks inside, hands off the towels to Dean, and closes the curtains on the window. She turns and hands Sam a piece of paper. “I’m at this address.”
Sam doesn’t know what she’s talking about. “I’m sorry?”
“Go now, go through the bathroom window. Don’t stop, don’t take your car. Don’t pass go.” the woman tells him. “There are demons in the hallway and in the parking lot.”
Sam’s eyes widen. “Ruby?”
“Okay, so I’m possessing this maid for a hot minute. Sue me.”
“What about—”
“Coma girl? Slowly rotting on the floor back at the cabin with Anna, so I gotta hurry back.” Dean makes a face at this imagery, and Ruby points at Sam. “See you when you get here. Go!”
Still holding the towels, Dean stares at his brother. What’s going on here?
~*~*~
Sam and Dean sneak through the forest and to the cabin where Ruby lets them in. “Glad you could make it.”
Sam walks over to Anna. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I think so,” she answers, somewhat nervously. “Ruby’s not like other demons.” Anna smiles at Ruby. “She saved my life.”
“Yeah I hear she does that,” Dean says, turning to Ruby. “I guess I uh…” He clears his throat. “You know.”
“What?”
It’s not easy for Dean, but he manages to say, “I guess I owe you.” He nods to his brother. “For Sam. And I just, wanted…” Dean’s voice trails off. “You know.”
“Don’t strain yourself,” Ruby says sarcastically.
“Okay then! Is the moment over?” Dean asks. She just stares at him. “Good cuz that was awkward.”
Anna asks Sam if she could maybe try and contact he parents. “Because they must be completely freaked.”
“Uh…” Sam takes in a deep breath, trying to figure out how to tell her. “Anna, um…” he sits down next to her. “Your parents…”
“What about them?” she asks, already knowing the answer, but refusing to believe it.
“Anna I’m sorry.”
“No, they’re not—”
“I’m sorry,” Sam tells her gently, and Anna breaks down, sobbing. Sam and Dean and even Ruby feel for her.
“Why is this happening to me?!” Anna cries.
“I don’t know.” Sam puts a comforting hand on her shoulder, and suddenly Anna sits up, scared. “They’re coming!”
The lights start to flicker and everyone looks up.
“Back room!” Dean orders, and Sam helps Anna out as Ruby goes to lock the door.
Dean hands his brother a shotgun and grabs his own gun as Ruby goes to look for the knife in Sam’s duffle bag. She can’t find it. “Where’s the knife?”
Dean glances at Sam, who doesn’t answer, so Dean answers, “Uh yeah, about that.”
“You’re kidding!” Ruby yells at him.
“Hey, don’t look at me.”
“Thanks a lot,” Sam tells his brother, and Dean just grins.
“Great, just peachy,” Ruby says angrily. “Impeccable timing guys, really.”
Dean joins his brother, ready to fight as the wind outside grows louder. The back door suddenly blows off its hinges. They all wait tensely to see who they’re going to have to fight now.
Suddenly Castiel and Uriel round the corner. Castiel looks just as surprised to see them there as Dean is to see him. Ruby’s eyes go black.
Dean: Please tell me you’re here to help.
Castiel stares from Ruby to Sam and Dean and Dean tells them, “We’ve been having demon issues all day!”
Uriel smirks. “I can see that.” He glares at Ruby. “You want to explain why you have that stain in the room?”
Dean glances at Ruby, then at Sam. He doesn’t know quite how to explain, and finally Castiel speaks up. “We’re here for Anna.”
Dean is confused. “Here for her like, here for her?”
“Stop talking!” Uriel orders. “Give her too us.”
“Are you gonna help her?” Sam asks.
“No,” Castiel answers. “She has to die.”
****TO BE CONTINUED****
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXX
Ahhhhh! No! To be continued?! Booo. LoL Great episode though. Poor Sam. I mean wow, the guy was completely destroyed losing his brother.
PS-If Castiel dies, er...well, his vessel or...well, you know what I mean. Basically if Cas doesn't come back and Ruby gets to stay, I predict an online Apocalypse in the Supernatural world! Please don't kill off Castiel!
