Strike = no more ‘24’, and House three times a week?
November 8th 2007 04:51
It doesn’t look like there’s going to be a quick end to the writers strike and networks are scrambling to rearrange schedules. Fox announced the new season of 24 “won’t be back until the network can air the entire season, uninterrupted.” If this strike lasts as long as the last one, that could mean no more Jack Bauer until Spring, if that.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles will fill 24’s spot, followed by Prison Break until Nov. 12, when reruns of House will take its place. House will also remain in its normal Tuesday night slot, plus a Friday night showing.
And things just get more confusing. According to Variety:
Then there's Fridays, where the sked will rotate every few weeks: As already announced, "Bones" heads to 8 p.m. starting Jan. 4; on Feb. 22, new skein "New Amsterdam" replaces "House" repeats at 9. Then on March 7, half-hours "'Til Death" and "The Return of Jezebel James" take on the 8 and 8:30 slots. And on April 11, "Canterbury's Law" will replace "Amsterdam" at 9.
Just a short note, I’m actually am looking forward to New Amsterdam. But anyway, getting back to the strike…
Also being hit hard are Fox’s Family Guy and NBC’s The Office. The New Adventures of Old Christine and Back to You have shut down and looking at the list of writers who showed up to picket, a lot more of our favorites may be in danger.
On the picket lines, the showrunner rally -- held in front of the Walt Disney Studios -- brought out a who's who of big-name scribes, among them Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse ("Lost"), Marc Cherry ("Desperate Housewives"), Shonda Rhimes ("Grey's Anatomy"), Neal Baer ("Law & Order: SVU"), Carol Mendelsohn ("CSI"), Josh Schwartz ("Chuck"), Shawn Ryan ("The Unit"), Alan Ball ("Six Feet Under"), Greg Daniels ("The Office") and Joss Whedon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer").
