Song of the Week Saturday: "My Weakness"

August 16th 2008 00:00
This week's song is Moby's "My Weakness". The song was featured on the Season 7 episode of The X-files, Closure, and I cannot hear it without thinking about Mulder's search for his siter...*sniff* The whole scene was done beautifully!

This scene and the song were awesome! The only beef I have with it is that that girl is so not Samantha! I know the original Samantha is in her 20s now (so crazy seeing her in IWTB!) and was too old even back in 2000-2001 (?), but you think they would have curled or braided her hair or something? I'm so picky... lol Anyway, she's a beautiful little girl and the scene was equally beautiful (albeit a little unsettling with all the dead kids/child ghosts running in the woods). Oh, and randomly speaking of XF children, was the little boy who at the beginning of season 7 asks Mulder to build the sandcastle UFO with him supposed to be William and/or a representation of Scully? That's what I'm thinking... Talk about foreshadowing. I love this show and I love how six years after it's off the air, I'm still learning things about it while watching it on DVD!

I felt the same way about "the Samantha" in that episode. They did a pretty good job finding someone who looked kind of like her, but it still wasn't the same. And that little boy...Wow, strange how I never really thought of how he could represent William. I guess I always saw him as a representation of Mulder himself. Kind of the different steps and incarnations of Mulder in his search for The Truth, innocent baby-steps in the beginning, stubborn destructive little boy, the grown man still searching for something that happened in his childhood...I mean, Mulder was constantly beating up on himself like the kid was destroying his sand UFO, right? (Stubbornnes thy name is Mulder .) The kid even tells him that it's his spaceship and he's destroying it. Then there's always that "child is father to the man" thing...I don't know, now you've got me thinking! LoL Have I mentiioned I love this show?
