New XF2 web ads!

May 11th 2008 01:18

These are very cool. FOX has released two new web ads to promote the trailer for the new movie (1 Day, 4 hours, 56 minuts, and 9 seconds until we get to see it!).

There are two short videos. A Mulder talking about Scully version and a Scully talking about Mulder one. Love 'em both!

Awwwww! I'm not going to worry about the fact that they're saying "I miss..." because of this next bit...

Thanks to our friends over at XFN, we have a possible elaboration on the story behind these ads. It comes from an interview IGN did with Frank Spotnitz back in April.

IGN: Frank, take us to the first day on set. What was it like to hear David and Gillian saying Mulder and Scully dialogue again?

Spotnitz: Well, it's funny, because Gillian didn't start [at the same time]. Actually, we started filming in December and she wasn't in any of those scenes, it was just David. And we started with a lot of scenes that were action, no dialogue at all, so it was sort of, not the most fun stuff. It's, you know, tedious filming people jumping, running, climbing, it's like not the great stuff. To me the sort of chill down my spine was when I first saw David and Gillian, I think it was the beginning of November, they came to Chris's house in Malibu to read the script. We had a table read, and it was just the four of us. Other people were coming in and out who had worked on the show, but it was the four of us sitting around a table at Chris's house, and that was, that was just amazing to me because it had been six years, they were very different people, they were leading completely separate lives all this time, and yet there's this undeniable chemistry between the two of them and it was there, it had not gone away. And it was powerful, it was really powerful. And then a week later we did camera tests at Chris's house, and Gillian had the red hair, and David got his haircut back, his Mulder haircut, you know, he's been combing it differently all these years, and it was astonishing. It really was. It was like bringing back the dead. And they did some, they ad-libbed some talk that, will somehow end up, you'll end up seeing, it's be used by Fox somehow. But it was in character talk, and yeah, it was emotional, because you know, obviously, not surprisingly, I feel a very deep connection to these fictional people an there they were. That's such a rare thing, to have characters come back like that. And I feel very lucky.

Okay that just makes me love the ads that much more! David and Gillian adlibbing as Mulder and Scully is perfect!! "The way she says my name"? Love it!!

And here's just a fun snippet from a new article in the Herald Sun...

Duchovny started shooting the movie's action sequences two weeks before Anderson arrived on set.

"We were running around doing crazy stuff and it didn't really feel like The X-Files to me so much, but then when I started to work with Gillian it sunk in," he says.

Anderson says: "We'd seen each other in between and we did a week of rehearsals in LA before David started, so we got an opportunity to gauge where we were at.

"Fortunately, that dynamic was still alive, so that when we started shooting again, it showed up when we showed up."

Duchovny laughs and says: "We couldn't keep our hands off each other."

LoL!

OK, since I'm staying up past my bedtime for the trailer release I've decided to spend my wait time watching--what else-- XF episodes. Any recommendations? I'm thinking "Bad Blood" but I've watched that multiple times so I'm looking for something I normally wouldn't think of. I was sadly a little bit of a late bloomer when it came to this show-- I didn't start watching consistently until 1997, so any really good ones I might have missed? I have the whole box set, so the sky is the limit! Woohoo!!

Great idea to help pass the time! Only 1/2 an hour left! Whoohoo! Now asking me for suggestions of great episodes...well, let's just say I could go on forever listing my favorites (haha) but let's see...I'm in a kind of "Detour"-ish mood. LoL If you want older episodes how about War of the Coprophages, Quagmire, Dod Kalm, or Small Potatoes? Nothing too heavy, just something fun to watch Now you've got me wanting to watch them all!
