Lost: The End

October 15th 2010 20:14

Like the title implies, this is the end. Off The Island, everyone comes together at the Driveshaft/Daniel Faraday concert, where Kate helps Claire deliver her baby and they suddenly both remember everything. Charlie, who noticed something was wrong when the two left their table, is there to welcome baby Aaron into the world, and suddenly he too remembers everything.

Charlotte, who woke Charlie up backstage to on meets up with Daniel, who seems to remember her from somewhere…

Eloise asks Desmond to stop everything that’s going on, he ignores her. She asks if he’s going to take her son, to which he replies, “Not with me, no.”

With Hurley and Boone’s help, Sayid and Shannon are reunited, and with a kiss in a dark alley, they too remember.

Jack’s ex-wife is revealed to be Juliet, who is at the hospital to pick up her son. Meanwhile she and Saywer, who’s there to check up on Sun (and finds a very happy Sun and Jin assuring him that he doesn’t need to protect them from Sayid, and that they are safe and “We’ll see you there”), encounter each other at the stubborn vending machine, where one touch is all it takes to bring all their Island memories flooding back.

Locke wakes up, declaring that the surgery “worked”, and from the look on his face and the fact that he knows Jack doesn’t really have a son, we can assume he too has had his flash of realization.

Meanwhile, on The Island, there is a mad dash for everyone to get to the plane. Desmond stumbles into Rose, Bernard, and Vincent, who have no idea what year they’re living in, but they’re content to stay out of the whole mess of fighting. In order to protect them, Desmond allows them to hand him over to Locke, who, with Jack, takes him to the heart of The Island. They lower Desmond down to the pool of light, where in visible pain and bleeding from the nose, Desmond forces himself forward and pulls out the giant stone stopper. The electromagnetic force recedes. Nothing more happens. Fake Locke turns to Jack. “It looks like you were wrong.” Furious, Jack races after Locke, punching him in the face. Upon seeing the blood, he tells him, “It looks like you were wrong too.” Locke smashes a rock into the back of Jack’s head and runs off.

Meanwhile, on their way to the plane, Miles, and company get held up at gunpoint by Claire, who Kate still wants to rescue. Richard tells her that she can get away from here to a better place, that she can go with them, but Claire refuses.

As the storm gets worse and The Island begins to fall apart, a tree is knocked loose. Ben spots it about to land on Hurley and shoves him out of the way, only to be pinned himself. Everyone rushes over to help as Miles radios Ben to tell them that Frank is trying to fix the plane and they better hurry if they want to be on it when it takes off. Ben tells them he knows how to get to Hydra Island, that Locke has a boat, and Sawyer finally manages to pry Ben free with another fallen branch. They’re off.

Jack catches up to Locke/The Smoke Monster at the edge of a cliff, where they fight. Jack is stabbed, The Smoke Monster is shot from behind by Kate, who arrives just in time. He argues that they’re too late, but Jack kicks him off the cliff. Kate runs up to inspect his wound, but he assures her he’s fine.

Ben, Sawyer, and Hurley arrive, with news that they need to the plane before Frank takes off. Ben’s decided that if The Island’s going down, he’s going down with it. Jack tells them that whatever Desmond turned off, he needs to turn it back on, and Kate tries to talk him out of it. Jack won’t budge. They have a tearful goodbye, kiss, and declare their love for each other. Hurley, who refuses to go down the rickety looking ladder attached to the cliff, tells Jack he’s with him. Sawyer and Kate jump off the cliff into the water towards the Elizabeth. If they can reach the boat, they can get to Hydra Island in time.

Over at the Ajira Landing Strip, Frank, Miles, and Richard are working to get the plane moving. With The Island (and the plane) falling apart, it’s not an easy task. Frank rips a page out of the plane’s manual, shoves it and some duct tape at Miles, and tells them to go fix the problems. Ben radios Frank, but Frank’s got too much to worry about. Telling Ben to leave him alone, he tosses the radio aside and finally gets the plane started.

Sawyer and Kate make landfall, only to find Claire. Kate once again pleads with her to come, but Claire doesn’t want to leave. The Island has made her crazy. Insisting that she can help her if she just goes with them, Kate finally gets Claire to come. They hurry to the plane site just as it’s starting to take off. They manage to make it just in time and climb onboard.

Hurley and Ben help an injured Jack get back to the Source, where Jack tells Hurley that he has to do this, and that he’s giving The Island to him. Hurley doesn’t want it, nor does he want to lose Jack, but Jack tells him that The Island needs him, that he has faith in Hurley. Hurley agrees to take over, but only until Jack gets back. Ben finds an Oceanic bottle and Jack fills it with water from the stream, handing it over to Hurley, who drinks. Jack tells Hurley, “Now you’re like me.” Sadly, Hurley helps Ben lower Jack back down to the pool, where Desmond still is. Jack carries him to the rope, and when Desmond argues that he should be the one to go back to plug up the Source, Jack tells him that he’s done enough. That he needs to go home to his wife and son. He tells Desmond that he’ll see him in another life, “Brother.”

The rope begins to lift. Jack struggles over, and exhaustedly plugs the hole with the giant cork. After a minute, water slowly begins to trickle back. The light is returning. Totally spent Jack falls back, sobbing with relief. The rope is raised, and Hurley and Ben are surprised to find Desmond on the end of it. Hurley takes this to mean Jack is dead, and Ben tries comforting him, telling him that Jack did what he had to do, and that Hurley is now The Island’s protector. Hurley doesn’t think he can do it, but Ben assures him that he can. Just do what he’s always done—take care of people. Hurley isn’t sure how he can help people, like Desmond get home, if he can’t leave The Island. Ben says that that’s just the way Jacob did it and that maybe there’s a better way. Tearful, Hurley asks Ben for his help, and Ben says it would be an honor.

Back in the Sideways World, everyone meets up at Eloise’s Church. Locke pulls up in a taxi, and gets out with his wheelchair. Ben is seated outside the church, and tells Locke that he’s sorry for everything that he did to him, that he was selfish and wanted to be special like Locke. Locke forgives him, and it means a lot to Ben. He tells Locke that he doesn’t need his wheelchair anymore. Locke gets up and walks inside. Hurley finds Ben outside and Ben tells him that he’s not going in. He’s going to stare here a while. Hurley tells him he was a great Number Two. Ben agrees that Hurley was a great Number One. Hurley heads inside.

Jack and Kate arrive, and Jack is surprised to find she’s taken him to the church where he was going to have his father’s funeral. Why? She tells him that he is going to have his father’s funeral, and that they will all be ready for him when he is. Ready for what? “To leave.”

Jack walks in the back entrance to find his father’s coffin. He touches it reverently, remembering. Finally, he opens it, only to find it empty. A voice catches his attention, and Jack turns to find his father, standing in the room. Jack is shocked. How is this possible, his father died, how is he here? His father only asks, “How are you here?”, and suddenly it makes sense to Jack. He died too. They hug and head out into the chuch.

The end. Hurley: I'm not allowed to tell you. There are rules dude. Sayid: Whose rules? Hurley: Don't worry about it, just trust me okay. I trust you. I think you're a good guy Sayid. ~*~*~ Eloise: I thought I told you to stop this. Desmond: You were perfectly clear, I chose to ignore you. ~*~*~ Locke/Smoke Monster: Does this remind you of anything Jack? Desmond going down into a hole in the ground. If there was a button down there to push, we could fight about whether to push it. Just like old times. Jack: You're not John Locke, you disrespect his memory by wearing his face, but you are nothing like him. It turns out he was right about just about everything. I just wish I could have told him that when he was still alive. ~*~*~ Locke/Smoke Monster: It looks like you were wrong. ~*~*~ Jack (to Locke before the surgery) : I'll see you on the other side. ~*~*~ Frank: In case you haven't noticed, I'm a pilot. ~*~*~ Locke: So it’s you. Jack: Yeah, it’s me. Locke: Jacob being who he is, I expected to be surprised. You're sort of the obvious choice, don't you think? ~*~*~ Jack: I'm going to kill you. Locke: How do you plan to do that. Jack: It’s a surprise. ~*~*~ Desmond: This doesn't matter. Him destroying the Island, you destroying him. It doesn't matter. You're going to lower me into that light, and I'm going to go somewhere else. A place we can be with our loved ones. A place where we never have to think of this dammed place again. And you know the best part Jack, you are in this place. Jack: What happened, happened. All of this matters. ~*~*~ Hurley: No, no way, I'm not going to let you die. Jack: Hurley, I'm already dead. This is what I'm supposed to do. It needs to be you Hugo. If someone has to take care of the Island and protect it, it should be you. I believe in you. ~*~*~ Jack: Desmond, you've done enough. You wanna do something? Go home and be with your wife and son. Desmond: How about *you*, Jack? Jack: I'll see you in another life, brother. ~*~*~ Sawyer: Well Doc, why don't you come down off the mountain top and tell us what the burning bush had to say for itself. ~*~*~ Sawyer: It doesn't sound like Jacob said anything about anything. Hurley: That's true dude, he's worse than Yoda. ~*~*~ Sawyer: You all head to the heart of the Island and I'll get the magic leprechaun out of the well. ~*~*~ Jack: I'll be fine, just find me some thread and I'll count to five. ~*~*~ Jack: I took the job because the Island is all I've got left. It's the only thing in my life I haven't ruined. Kate: Nothing is irreversible. ~*~*~ Kate: I love you. Jack: I love you. ~*~*~ Ben (to MIB): When you said you were going to destroy the Island, I thought you were speaking figuratively. ~*~*~ Miles: Looks like you got your first gray hair. What are you smiling about? Richard: I think I just realized that I want to live. Miles: It's good timing. ~*~*~ Kate: Who died? Desmond: A man named Christian Shepard. Kate: Christian Shepard, seriously? ~*~*~ Hurley: What is my job now, what the hell am I supposed to do. Ben: You do what you do best. Helping people. You can start by getting Desmond home. Hurley: But how, people can't leave the Island. Ben: That's how Jacob ran things, maybe there's another way, a better way. Hurley: will you help me Ben? Ben: I'd be honored. Hurley: Cool. ~*~*~ Ben: I'm very sorry for what I did to you John. I was selfish, jealous, I wanted everything you had. Locke: What did I have? Ben: You were special John and I wasn't. Locke: Well if it helps Ben, I forgive you. Ben: Thank you John, that does help. It matters more than I can say. Locke: What are you going to do now. Ben: I have some things I need to work out, so I'll stay here awhile. ~*~*~ Hurley: You know, you were a real good Number Two. Ben: You were a great Number One. ~*~*~ Jack: I don't understand, you died. Christian: Yes I did. Jack: Then how are you here right now? Christian: How are you here? Jack: …I died too. Christian: It’s okay son. ~*~*~ Locke: (to Jack) We've been waiting for you. ~*~*~ Jack: Are you real? Christian: I sure hope so. Yeah, I'm real. You're real. Everything that's happened to you is real. All those people in the church, they're all real too. Jack: No. They're all... They're all dead. Christian: Everyone dies sometime, kiddo. Some of them before you, some... long after you. Jack: But why are they all here now? Christian: Well, there is no "now", here. Jack: Where are we, Dad? Christian: This is a place that you... that you all made together so that you could fine one another. The most important part of your life was the time that you spent with these people. That's why all of you are here. Nobody does it alone, Jack. You needed all of them, and they needed you. Jack: For what? Christian: To remember. And to... let go. Jack: Kate... She said we were leaving. Christian: Not leaving. No. Moving on. Jack: Where are we going? Christian: Let's go find out.
