If you're a fan of Lost, you know this song and it usually brings tears to your eyes. I've always called it the "dying theme", but it's actually called "Parting Words" by Michael Giacchino. Listen to the hauntingly beautiful song below...

I can’t believe it, but as of yesterday, it’s been a year since I took over the blogging of TV Chit Chat, and what a year it’s been! Aside from the (dare utter it?) Writers’ Strike and lack of awards shows, there were some definite quotable quotes, *GASP!* moments, and great new shows actually worth watching. And so, in honor of this season, I thought it only appropriate to recap the year in the form of…*ahem* original parody of a popular song…

*CUE PIANO MAN MUSIC*

(Why am I having a Bones moment? Oh right…)

*sits down at the piano and pulls out the harmonica*

And here, for those of you who like to read parodies along with the actual song...

On with the show!!

It’s nine o’clock at my computer
The regular fans loggin’ in
There’s a TV sitting next to me
Still wonderin’ what happened to Jin.

He says, “Sun can you bring back the time machine?
I’m not really sure where it is,
But it’s buried, once cone-shaped, now probably black
Locke knows, but Jack’s better with this.

la la la didi daaa
la la didi daa
daa dum

Play us a show, you’re the TV set
Play us a show tonight
Well we’re all in the mood for a tragedy
With comedy written in just right

Now Dean in the car is a friend of mine
And Sammy yeah he’s in there too
They’re quick with the joke
Or to pull out The Colt
But there’s demons and more than a few

Dean says, “Sam, I believe this is killing me,”
As Bela ran away with the gun
“Well I’m sure that I could get out of this deal
But dude, you for me, that’s not fun.”

Oh la la la didi daaa
la la didi daa
daa dum

Now Bones, she’s a best-selling novelist
Who never has time for a life
She and Booth in therapy, and Sweets doing pottery
And still no Squint wedding in sight

And the “Mc” thing is still on at Seattle Grace
And Dr. House and his cane are alone
Because Wilson and Amber are now a thing
And poor Sloan is now all on his own

Play us a show, you’re the TV set
Play us a show tonight
Well we’re all in the mood for a tragedy
With comedy written in just right

Mick and Beth have to deal with the “human thing”
And Josef redecorates with a smile
But they know Coraline and the writers will try
To tease, break them up for a while

And the music brings tears to my little eyes
And the lighting reminds me of noir
And if it doesn’t come back and they stake Mick St. John
As Josef says, CBS “It’s SO ON!”

Oh la la la didi daaa
la la didi daa
daa dum

Play us a show, you’re the TV set
Play us a show tonight
Well we’re all in the mood for a tragedy
With comedy written in just right

One Week Later

On Penny’s boat, Hurley asks Sayid, “What’s this place called?”

“Membarta.”

Why are they doing this again? Sailing 3,000 miles to another island? Because it’s the only way to keep them safe.

Everyone’s getting ready to leave the boat. Jack tells Frank it’s been a pleasure. He hopes he never sees him again. Frank agrees, “Likewise.”

Penny tells Aaron goodbye and hands him off to Kate. Desmond helps Jack with the last of the preparations.

Desmond: You sure about this brother?

Jack: *shakes his head* Are you sure?

Oh yeah, Desmond’s sure.

Desmond: As long as I’m with Penny, I’ll be fine.

Jack: Don’t let them find you Desmond.

They both look up to Kate and Penny, and Jack adds, “Then I’ll see you in another life, brother.”

“Aye. I guess you will.”

They shake hands and Desmond steps back onto the ship.

Jack: Alright. Let’s go home.

~*~*~

Using broken pieces of wooden boards, Jack and Sayid paddle the raft towards another island. But one with lots of people this time.

The natives immediately rush out to help them. It’s a very welcome sight.

Civilization. Finally.

It’s an emotional, relief-filled, moment for them all…but what happens now?

FLASH

Bearded-Jack drives down the street, music blaring. He stops in front of the funeral parlor, cuts the engine then gets out.

A train sounds in the distance as Jack tries the door. Locked. Frustrated, he rattles and kicks at it, then spots a lone block of cement. He uses it to break off the doorknob, and enters, kicking the door open.

Jack flicks on the light and heads for a casket. He pauses a moment, pacing a while, then finally turns to look at the clipboard lying on top.

The name on top reads: Jeremy Bentham.

Jack tosses the clipboard aside, takes a moment, then opens the casket.

“Hello Jack.”

Jack starts, flipping around. Ben apologizes, “Sorry didn’t mean to scare you. Did he tell you I got off The Island?”

Jack: Yes he did.

Ben: When did you speak to him?

Jack: About a month ago.

Ben: And Kate?

Jack: Yeah, he spoke to her too.

Ben: And what did he say?

Jack: He said that after I left The Island, some very bad things happened…And he told me that it was my fault. For leaving. And he said that I had to come back.

Yes, Ben’s heard that Jack’s been flying on passenger planes, hoping he’d crash.

Ben: It’s dark Jack, very dark.

Jack: Why are you here?

Ben: I’m here to tell you The Island won’t let you come alone.

Jack just shakes his head, typical Ben. Ben takes a step forward.

Ben: All of you have to go back.

Jack: Sayid—I don’t even know where Sayid is. Hurley…is insane. Sun blames me for—And Kate, she won’t even talk to me anymore.

Ben: Perhaps I can help you with that…This is the way it has to be Jack, it’s the only way. You have to do it together, ALL of you.

He tells Jack that he has a few ideas. As usual, Ben has a plan.

Jack sighs and starts to leave, but Ben stops him.

Ben: Jack. I said all of you. *nods to the coffin* We’re gonna have to bring him to.

The camera creeps up over the back of the coffin to finally reveal…

Locke.

Man oh man talk about an intense finale! (And a super long recap! My hands hurt from all that frantic typing!)

Where do I even start with my reactions? Well, let’s see…I still don’t like Ben, I still love Sawyer, I’ve realized over this past year how much I really like Desmond, and I knew it had to be Locke in that coffin since only he and Sawyer (not counting Hurley) knew what Ben was up to and Kate didn’t want to go to the funeral. Whew!

I absolutely hate what happened to poor Jin! He was so close! I admit, I was screaming and crying at the TV as much as Sun was during that part. ARGH! I still refuse to believe he’s dead though.

Oh, and who knew you could move an entire island with a good ol’ fashioned, half frozen ship’s wheel? Too bad Ben destroyed the time machine, as they could have just gone back to the time before everyone got killed. Namely Charlie. Yes, I’m still sore about that one.

All in all though, GREAT episode! Totally action-packed and not a boring spot in there.

So, what does everyone think about where they’ll start off next season? Everyone already back on The Island? Trying to find it? How are they going to talk Desmond into leaving Penny after all the poor guy’s been through to get back to her? Will Ben follow through on his death threat?

Questions piled upon more questions. Such is Lost. I love it.

The Oceanic 6 finally step off the plane and into the arms of their waiting families. Well, most of them do anyway. Hurley pulls Sayid over to meet his parents, and Hurley’s mom pulls him into a big hug. Awww! Jack’s mom is there. Sun’s parents

I really don’t like Juliet. In fact, I actually found myself shouting, “I hate you!” at the TV this week, but alas, I’m getting ahead of myself…

Quick recap of last week’s episode: “The Other Woman” (a.k.a. the newest Juliet-centered episode).
