Joaquin Phoenix quits acting

That's right, at the red carpet benefit for the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, a charity founded by Paul Newman, the actor told E! Online reporter Jason Kennedy that:

["Two Lovers", his romantic drama with Gwyneth Paltrow] will be my last performance as an actor. I'm not doing films anymore... I've been through that. I've done it... I'm dead serious.

Phoenix is apparently giving up acting to pursue music, a passion of his since he learned to play guitar to play the role of Johnny Cash in 2005's "Walk the Line." According to Billboard, Phoenix is working on an album with Tim Burgess, frontman for the UK group The Charlatans. Burgess said, "Once he learnt guitar he found that he had quite a lot of demons inside himself that he wanted to expel through music.

Wow...even though I'm excited to hear his music (I loved Walk The Line), I'm really sad to see him go as an actor. There was just something about his quiet vulnerability that was amazing on screen. Don't go Joaquin! I miss you already! Couldn't you just take a break for a while?

Oh well, I wish him all the best in his music career, and can't wait to see what he comes out with!

NO!!! he's one of my favourite actors!!
I'm not interested in his music. I don't care. It's his character acting that I love!!!
Now we'll have lost two Phoenix's to the acting world before their time, so to speak.

I Movie You

Good, I hate this guy as an actor!! I don't know why, I think it was the movie "King Arthur", but this guy is just too "body language" weird for me. I get those bad vibes from him.

Anyways, I'm sure to get some heat from this post, but I'm sticking with what I said. He comes across as a shady guy, beyond his acting abilities.

It won't last...he'll be back for the money if anything else. And, fans don't want to hear him play music...they want to see him act. He's a great actor...I love him. He'll come to his senses and realize that you can do both things.
