It's T-shirt time!

July 3rd 2008 21:07

Okay, this all started with two things. 1. The quickly approaching date of The X-files: I Want To Believe (21 days!!) and 2. This conversation in the comments. As you can see, we need t-shirts to properly commemorate what we X-philes have been waiting for for six years (which actually feels like FOREVER! Doesn’t it? Anyone? LoL)

And so, Amy, Paula, and I have decided it’s time to stop just talking about it. Let’s do this! Any other X-philes are welcome to join in on the fun! Just be sure to let us know if you’re interested so we don’t leave you out.

“It’s (almost) HERE!!!”

I'm thinking...

The pic from People of GA and DD (see right hand side of blog) with the tag line "I Believe" and "07.25.08" What do you all think?

okay, so as I said, I would love to have the three (not tree this time) of us on the t-shir, unless there will be more x-files joining our project..... The grey X logo in the background (you know, the standard one).... I suck with creating funny comments, so I leave it up to you And of course pictures of Mulder and Scully....

PS-If it's still just the 3 of us, how funny would it be to parody a LGM pic? We could so do one of the classics like this one or this one.

Oops, sorry posted that before got the e-mail that you guys posted. LoL I love both your ideas. Maybe we should make more than one...haha I vote that whatever we put on it, the main shirt should be black. What do you think? These shirts are going to be awesome!

Thought: Maybe we should put the People pic with "I Believe" and "07.25.08" on the front and us in the LGM pose with the funny comment on the back?

I love the first pic of LGM but I don't wanna be Frohike LOL Anyway, I love Amy's idea of a M&S pic and of course the t-shirt must be black

Comment by Meggie

July 3rd 2008 21:26
Ahahahaha! Okay, no Frohike for you then.

I understand that if we do the pose, you can make the pic look like we all are there at the same time??? I totally suck with stuff like that, but I just love the idea of the LGM pose pic And of course you have to mail me my t-shirt

I can do it if Amy doesn't want to. (Amy are you still here? As you already called designing it, you can totally have first dibs!)

LoL! Yes, it can be done. Oh I know, I LOVE that pic. It was with a recent interview and it's bugging me because I can't remember which one it was...

LOL! I
was just thinking about the comment for the t-shirt..... Does it have to me funny comment? Because I just remembered Mulder's "Never give up on the miracle" and hmmm waiting 6 years for the movie and finally getting it, feels a little like miracle.....

Comment by Meggie

July 3rd 2008 21:44
Oooo, that is a good one. It doesn't have to be funny. I would definitely agree that it feels like a miracle after so long! haha

Haha sorry! I got distracted with work. Both ideas are awesome! I say we put my idea on the front and us as the LGM on the back (maybe top area?) as a logo with some inside joke/funny comment in small text. =)

LoL, don't worry about it, I understand. (I keep going back and forth myself as I'm in the middle of editing a music video. LoL)

Okay, so we've basically got the whole design then right? Mulder and Scully with "I believe" on front and us with "Never give up on the miracle" on back? (Or Amy did you want to use that on front instead and "I believe" on back? )

That sounds perfect! (Using both quotes) Now, when it comes to making it, would you go to a silk screening place or iron pics on yourself? I can try actually assembling them but I warn you that I've only done this once before and the results were less than thrilling. P.S. Either way, can you photoshop us as the LCM? Oh, and black sounds great to me!

I too have had not so great luck with the iron-on things. LoL If we decide who everyone's going to be on the LGM pic, and then take each of them seperately in some sort of the same general way, then I can photoshop us into it. Then I could e-mail you the finished graphic Amy (as I am sure you have better access to a screenprinting place then I do in my tiny town! haha). Did you want to design the front graphic? (Oh yeah, btw I'd be happy to pay for my part of the screenprinting/t-shirt buying fee. LoL)

I vote for the first LGM pic and I'll volunteer myself to be Frohike... we share a strange attraction to Scully/GA. Albeit my is probably a bit more platonic. Anyhoo, before I embarrass myself any more: I could try doing it myself and if that doesn't work, I can take it to a screen printing place. It's probably going to be somewhat expensive ($20-$25 each minimum), since we're only going to be making three, I presume? I might be able to get us a discount though. We'll have to see. This is fun! =)

arghhhhhhh I just had to check one more time, before I go to bed.
I of course will pay too!!!
Whatever you decide will be good, as long as it actually will stay on the t-shirt longer than till first laundry LOL And you can choose who I can be in LGM, just as long as it's not Frohike

Night!!!!

Comment by Meggie

July 3rd 2008 22:24
Haha! Great, okay you can be Frohike. And I agree that trying it yourself first will probably be easier, and if it just won't work, we can see what the cost would be.

Paula, when you read this, since I'm technically host of this little par-tay, I'll be polite and let you decide if you want to be Byers or Langly. hehe

July 3rd 2008 22:27
Once again, posted before I saw that you posted Paula. LoL I really don't care who I am. You have longer hair than I do now (how weird is that?) but I can totally break out my glasses for the Langly pose if you'd like. Any preference?

Comment by Lilith

July 3rd 2008 22:31
AAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGHHH I kill you Meggie You won't let me go to bed, will you?! Hahahahaha, I too have my glasses somewhere, but I can do with Byers

Comment by Meggie

July 3rd 2008 22:36
Mwahaha! I won't! If you have your glasses you can be Langly if want to be.

PS-you can go to bed now.

You're more than welcome to go for it, being the more artistically-inclined one. I just write stuff. I might play around with it and then show you what I come up with. It depends how much time I have to play around on the computer this (extended) weekend. Woohoo!

Alrighty ladies (and gents, I suppose)!

I figured out the t-shirt thing, and it looks pretty dang good if you ask me. I'm suggesting that we all make our own shirts so we can save money and time. Here's what I did to make mine:

1. Go to Michael's or another arts and crafts store, and buy some iron-on transferable paper. It runs around $10-$15. Doesn't really matter what quality, but make sure it's iron-on unless you're in the mood for some sewing. Also, buy a black t-shirt in your size. I bought a fitted tee because I personally think they're cuter than the regular beefy tee.

2. Go to www.wiltoneasyimage.com and click on "Launch EasyImage" on the left-hand side. Log on using my account:

username: aasman
password: bobby1
(it's my cat's name, sorry for the lack of creativity)

Then click on the "my saved designs" decal on the left-hand side. I have two designs here, one with words and one with just the picture. You can print out the one I made or make your own rendition.

3. Printing is probably the hardest part. I would suggest starting with regular paper first to make sure you get it right. I took a red pen and drew an X on one side to see which side it printed out on. It should depend on each individual printer (remember it should be a color printer). You might have to load the paper in sideways using the feeder.

4. Once it's printed out, use scissors or a paper cutter to trim the designer how you like it.

5. Iron it on the shirt!! At this point, take out the directions that came with your iron-on transferable paper. Follow the directions carefully. Ex: mine says not to use steam or an ironing board, and to iron the shirt beforehand to get all the wrinkles out. ALSO-- you might want to wash your shirt before you iron anything on to prevent shrinkage. I'm going to iron mine on tonight. I'll let you know how it goes.

6. If we still want to do something on the back, we can design it and add on later!

Well, that's about it!! Please let me know how it goes and let me know if you have any questions or problems. 7 days left!!! WHOOOHOOO!!

<3,
Amy

Nice job Amy! Once you guys send me your pics it shouldn't take me long at all to make the back! And yes, I agree, it's a good idea for us each to do our own. Yay!
