House: The Itch

House and the team have to take the hospital to the patient, when Cameron comes to House with help treating a man with agoraphobia. Neither Chase, nor Cuddy are very happy about it.The patient, Stewart Nozick, was mugged, shot, and lost his girlfriend seven years ago and hasn't been out of the house since.

Meanwhile, House tells Wilson about the kiss with Cuddy, and then proceeds to ignore Cuddy, telling his friend that emotionally mature people who work together shouldn't date. Wilson argues that he just wants his friend to be happy, but House thinks he just wants to live vicariously through him. Trying to make House jealous, Wilson goes to confess his feelings to Cuddy, who immediately sees through the ploy, calling him an idiot.
While trying to treat the patient in his home, Taub accidentally starts him on fire when the cautery lights up the built-up gas in Stewart's intestines. House grabs a scalpel and widens the incision to let the gas escape, joking with the patient's lawyer, who demanded to be present during the whole thing.

Later on, Chase visits Cameron as she watches over Stewart, who complains of numb legs. House thinks they need to get him to eat wheat, and Taub wants to slow all the tests down and stop giving the patient morphine so that he'll be in so much pain he'll have to go to the hospital.

In the meantime, House has been having a mosquito problem at his apartment, resulting in an itch he just can't get rid of. When he finally spots the little culprit, he goes to swat it, but knocks out the propane tube of the extermination sprayer in his living room instead. Determined to catch that mosquito, House follows it into the kitchen, where he spots it landing on the stove. *Swat!* He misses again, accidentally igniting a burner. *BOOM!*
House wakes up from his dream and goes to Amber's apartment to bug Wilson about the bug. Wilson insists that there is no real mosquito or mosquito bite, and that it represents Cuddy instead. "You got bitten' the night you kissed her," he reminds House. "Your itching always gets worse when you think of her. You need to address this."

Instead of addressing it, House goes to the patient's home, where he finds Cameron asleep. He wants her to redo the endoscopy, yes this late, and Cameron suddenly realizes that the patient has no pulse. She performs CPR as House calmly dials Stewart's lawyer. Think he might want to go to the hospital now? Unfortunately for House, Cameron resuscitates the patient and insists that he stay here because those are his wishes.

Taub inserts a temporary pacemaker into the patient and House is certain that Stewart must have been poisoned for constantly cleaning his bathtub with bleach and ammonia, which can result in chlorine gas. He orders Stewart put on parenteral steroids and sodium bicarbonate.

Chase and Cameron argue about the fact that she doesn't want him to stay at her place because it's too hard after the loss of her husband. Chase reminds her that he won't hang around forever.

House discovers that the patient has been poisoned, but not by chlorine. The shrapnel from the bullet Stewart has in his abdomen gave him lead poisoning. Cameron holds Steward down as House digs it out, then argues with the man about him being happy with his chosen way of life. Steward finally breaks down and admits that he was heading out to get his girlfriend flowers for his birthday when everything just fell apart.
"If you want to change your life, then do something," House argues. "Don't believe your own rationalizations. Don't just lock yourself up and pretend you're happy.

Cameron finds Chase at the hospital. She's cleaned out a drawer at her place for him.

Stewart hovers in the entry hall of his apartment getting ready to finally go out the door after all these years.

Taub is sleeping on the couch, but is soon joined by his wife. He puts his arms around her. Maybe things aren't so bad after all.

House pulls up on his motorcycle outside Cuddy's house. He stares at it for a moment, then finally gets the nerve to look through the window. He watches her for a while, then turns and walks away. He just can't get himself to ring the bell.
