House M.D. - Fools for Love
November 1st 2006 09:50
After a four week hiatus House is BACK. *gleeful moment*
House suspects Wilson is dating the new nurse, and proceeds to taunt/stalk him about it, because that’s just what he does. Their patient is initially a young African-American woman who starts to have breathing problems after a robbery, but then her husband begins to exhibit the same symptoms and they have trouble pinpointing the cause. House and the team eventually figure out the two are BROTHER AND SISTER and the disease they share is a hereditary condition, which is all kinds of ew.
The other main storyline introduced is the cop arc we can expect to stick around for the next 6 episodes or so. Michael Tritter (played by David Morse) comes to the clinic and gets the usual treatment from House, only decides to bully him back after House humiliates him. House refuses to apologise, and his grudge gets a little more personal, causing him to chase House down for speeding before arresting him for carrying unprescribed drugs at the end of the episode. Oh dear.
So far the cop arc feels a little too contrived to me. I really prefer House when the personal issues are the only recurring storylines, instead of bringing in a nemesis for him to play with. David Morse’s character was annoying me and I found him kind of… creepy. That said, the episode was still pretty damn funny. House and Foreman have a bet about Wilson and the nurse, and Foreman wins when he reveals he’s the one dating her. It’s a rare day when House gets one-upped by one of his underlings. Cameron tries to get House’s mind back on the case by sarcastically proclaiming herself a lesbian (Heh), and Cuddy is seen actually taking a pregnancy test, so we know she’s trying to get pregnant somehow. Wilson appears to be secretly living in a hotel, so we can expect House to figure that out some time in the future.
Interested to see how this House vs. Cop arc pans out. Let’s just hope it goes the way of the Vogler arc of season 1, and not the Sela/Stacy/’Miss-My-Eyebrows-Are-Permanently-Glued-In-Place-And-I-Can’t-Make-A-Facial-Expression’ season 2 route.

I think I'll have to see a little more of the Tritter arc before I judge. It could become very um... not good (for want of better adjectives), but I guess that all depends on how those in the scriptwriting dept handle it all.
But even if it does get a little iffy, I think I may be able to handle it (not half to do with all the Hughy-goodness), because the B-plots (eg. Wilson/Foreman/nurse) make it all worth it.
I am waiting with bated breath (not actually sarcastic, for the first time I've used it) to see how it all pans out.

True. I think I'll have to stay optimistic about it.

Oh the B-plots will definitely be good, I totally agree. Hm. *staying on positive side*
