Grey's Anatomy - The Name of the Game

This is the Meredith I like to see. The strong empathetic character who isn’t pining hopelessly after her McDreamy. Hmm, funny she’s always sworn off men when she’s more likable, isn’t it?
In this episode, Meredith and Izzie take a mutual vow of celibacy, and their crazy method to uphold this vow is the age-old spinster habit of knitting. George accidentally discovers that Meredith’s father has a family she doesn’t know about. Still on the outs with her, he relays the information to Izzie, and it quickly gets back to Meredith, who covertly goes to check it out. It’s always interesting when we are given the opportunity to consider what her upbringing would have been like, abandoned as a five year old by her warm and caring father and left alone with her cold, emotionless surgeon mother. It goes a long way to explain why she is the way she is, and why she seems to have such a fear of commitment and such a dependence on her impossible relationship with Derek.
We also see that her hope for forgiveness isn’t entirely lost as George gives her father a heart-warming speech about her character, proving that his infatuation, while over, has not blocked her from his heart altogether.
On the comedic side of things, Cristina competes with the Chief in a surgical seminar, and thinks she is beating him easily until he nails a complicated procedure with his eyes closed. Equipped with his advice to ‘go back to basics’ when threatened by competition, she streaks through her kitchen naked while George and Burke are playing cards, finally ridding herself of her unwanted roomy.
Next week looks like an interesting episode, as Meredith gets herself a new (and possibly healthier) love interest with her vet, guest star Chris O’Donnell, which will be sure to rise McDreamy’s ire. And George will either move in with his newest squeeze Callie, or finally make amends with Meredith and return to the trio we so adore.
Whatever happens, Grey’s doesn’t seem to have lost its appeal in the slightest. If anything, it’s looking soapier, trashier and tastier than ever.

What was Denny Duquette's occupation that he could leave Izzie $8.7M?
