First off, I know what you’re thinking. You were gone finale week?! Yes, yes I was. But have no fear, I’m back and all caught up with this season’s finales, and let me just say one thing: There was a lot of yelling at the TV this season.

I will, of course, be writing up a full recap and my thoughts on each finale separately as usual, but I feel the need to write up my initial thoughts while they are all still fresh in my mind like the hydrogen bomb, brain tumor, Apocalypse season it was. So let’s get started. In order of how they aired…

Chuck: Best wedding/shootout/Jeffster concert/Casey save/other wedding/Ninja Chuck ever. This finale was awesome. Seriously, I loved everything about it, especially when Casey and his men end up having to put together Ellie and Awesome’s wedding after everyone literally crashed their first one. The entire episode was hilarious, action-packed, and, as usual, full of heart. Please, oh please NBC, do NOT let this be the end of Chuck. I feel like we’re just getting started!

Heroes: Just when Nathan is finally (albeit very slowly) starting to grow on me, he has to go and get killed. Great. Just great. *sigh* I don’t care if he did come back as Sylar/Nathan (Slythan? Natlar?) it’s not the same. All that swirling dust, digging up old heros aside, is it wrong of me to be the most concerned about Hiro and his bloody nose?

Private Practice:: I hate to say it, but I’ve started to feel like I’m watching this show more out of obligation than anything else. It’s like, we’ll I’ve seen all the ones before it, I can’t stop now. That being said, this episode gave me hope that maybe that could change. I thought this was a great episode, mostly for the end. If you saw it, you know what I’m talking about. If not, well, I don’t want to ruin it for you. Let me just say it involves drugs, a crazy lady, and a scapal…

House:: It’s the moment House-Cuddy (a.k.a. Huddy) fans were waiting for, and…wait for it...turns out House was imagining it all. No big surprise there, however I did not expect the end to be so, what’s the word…grim? Poor House. I feel really bad for the guy. You know it’s bad when he willingly signs up for help.  I did like the episode though. And I’m glad at least someone had a happy ending. That’s right, despite House trying to break up any and all happiness in his usual Housian way, Chase and Cameron, finally got married.

Lost:: The entire episode, I kept thinking, “They’re gonna end with the bomb. There’ll be a flash and then that’s it.” And I kept trying to talk myself out of it, and what do they do? They end with the bomb-flash and that’s it. Arrgh! Why, Lost? Why must you frustrate me in the best of ways? Despite my arrrghing, it was a great finale. Not so great? Sawyer and Jack suddenly deciding to beat the antagonist out of each other while poor Sayid is literally dying from a bullet wound a few feet away. Really guys? You think now is the best time for this? You all know my great love of Sawyer, but ever since he went all 70’s Dharmaville, I don’t know…I’m kinda liking the new Jack. Sorry Kate. Loved that Miles saved his dad when everything started crashing down, and as much as I don’t like Juliet, I realized I didn’t want her to die. Considering that she’s the only one lately who can seem to get Sawyer to do anything, she might be helpful to have around. And now the mysterious Jacob is even more mysterious. What was he doing visiting everyone long before they ever ended up on The Island? And is Dead Locke really Locke, or is the Walking Around on The Island Locke really Locke, or is Locke really Jacob having taken up Locke’s body? Oh the wonderful confusion that is Lost. That’s right, despite all the total frustration and confusion, I love it. One last thing, “What lies in the shadow of the statue?”

Bones:: Like House, there was lots and lots of hype about the rumored hookup with Booth and Bones on this season’s finale, and I’d like to know what you all thought about how it all turned out. I liked the quirky dream Booth was having where he was married to Bones (“Brenn” in this case, which was definitely weird) and they owned a night club named “The Lab”, where everyone worked in a sort of warped version of everyone else. There were a lot of great winks to the audience, like Sweets’s ‘I’m a bartender, which is practically a psychologist’ thing, and Hodgins being a great mystery writer. I loved Sweets’s band and the fact that all the interns, including Zack where there. I also liked that Hodgin’s did the voiceover for the story that Bones was typing as she sat next to Booth’s hospital bed. And, once again, the fact that it was all a coma dream wasn’t so surprising, but I was not expecting Booth to wake up and ask Bones, “Who are you?” *insert X-files flashback here* I was so hoping he would be joking (À la Mulder), but then that’s where it cut! Ahhhhh! No! You mean I have to wait all summer to find out if he was serious? *sigh, grumble* Okay, fine. You win this one Bones, but just wait. One of these days…

Supernatural:: Of all the finales, this was the one I was the most scared to watch. Why you ask? Supernatural finales are always awesome, and nail-bitingly good, but with Sam going after Lilith with Ruby, and Dean signing himself over to the angels in order to stop Sam from destroying himself, I had no idea what to expect. All I can say is, I NEVER, even for one split second, trusted Ruby, and I have never been so happy to see an evil character killed before ever. And I loved that Sam held her in place so Dean to could finally stab her with the knife. Yes! However, Sam and Dean being apart for most of the episode after their major fight was so sad. Especially when Dean called to apologize and they (whoever THEY are) switched the message. That was horrible! Bobby was awesome in this episode as usual, and I’m so glad Cas finally decided to help Dean. But man, they were SO close to stopping it all! Poor Sam! Poor Dean! (I find myself saying this a lot lately.) I was doing good. Sure, I’d yelled at the TV (a lot) and jumped for joy when Ruby died. There were a few teary moments, but I hadn’t had my usual all-out-Supernatural-finale-c ry yet. And then what happened? The last seal was broken, Dean finally barged in and they killed Ruby, Sam apologized, and then they had to go and grab each other’s jackets. I have no idea why, but that did it for me. Maybe it was the look on their faces when they turned to the light seeping in from the floor, maybe it was the way they said each other’s names, or maybe it was just the fact that these two brothers were both clinging to the only thing worth dying for: each other. But that definitely did it. Might as well get out the dictionary and insert Sam and Dean’s picture as the definition of “brotherhood”, because Lucifer is rising, but Sam and Dean aren’t about to let angels and demons come between family any time soon. Congratulations Supernatural, you have turned me into a blubbering idiot yet again. Have I mentioned I love this show? As in, more than just a friend?

Grey's Anatomy:: Talk about feeling bipolar, this episode bounced around all over the place! One second Izzie’s fine, then she’d got an inoperable tumor, then it’s operable, then she doesn’t want the surgery, then Alex does, then it’s okay, then Denny shows up, then the surgery went well, then she can’t remember that the surgery went well, so it must not have, then Alex goes crazy knowing she doesn’t want to live like this, then she remembers he’s going crazy, then it’s all good and back to normal, then she flatlines. *stops, breathes* Ahhh! And then, to make things even better, sweet George has to go and enlist in the army, and leave early before everyone can do their George Intervention, jumps in front of a bus to save a stranger, and winds up in the hospital where no one recognizes him. By the time Meredith (who is desperately trying to find some time to run to the courthouse to get married to Derek) finally figures it out, it’s too late. Izzie and George both code. They join each other in the elevator, she in her prom dress, he in his uniform he never even got to wear. *insert crying here* Oh, I almost forgot. Bailey gets the fellowship, but her husband is going to divorce her if she takes it. She doesn’t take it, and decides to leave him instead. Sloan makes a go at happiness by inviting Lexie to move in with him in his new house, but even that doesn’t work out. Is there no happiness left in the world? Great episode, but sad. Very very sad.

Phew! Well, there you go, there’s my initial ‘get it all out there’ reactions to this year’s finales. Overall, a very depressing, but very very good season. Yes, they may have made me laugh one second and cry the next, but that’s what I love about great TV shows. Give me great writing, acting, and characters that I love, and I’ll follow you through till the end, cursing yet enjoying every hallucinating, Apocalyptic, time-travelling, emotional rollercoaster you can throw at me! So what about you guys? What did you think of finale week?

I can’t believe it, but as of yesterday, it’s been a year since I took over the blogging of TV Chit Chat, and what a year it’s been! Aside from the (dare utter it?) Writers’ Strike and lack of awards shows, there were some definite quotable quotes, *GASP!* moments, and great new shows actually worth watching. And so, in honor of this season, I thought it only appropriate to recap the year in the form of…*ahem* original parody of a popular song
