Grey’s Anatomy- Losing my Religion

Oh that was so sad.
Denny gets a successful heart transplant, and everyone continues to cover for Izzie. She agrees to his marriage proposal, and is the happiest we’ve seen her in months. Meredith and Derek have to put their dog down (and succeed in making me like them again), and the Chief makes the interns plan a prom for his dying niece.
Lots of drama in this episode, but it was actually subtle drama. We didn’t see the moment when Izzie discovered Denny’s body, or Cristina broke down over Burke. We saw the aftermath.
Denny slipped away suddenly in the middle of reading, when no one was around to see it. The interns discover Izzie clinging to his body, refusing to leave his side. They file out and run into the Chief in the hall, and Izzie confesses to cutting his line and stopping his heart before quitting the program indefinitely.
After seeing what Denny’s sudden (and unexpected) death did to Izzie, Cristina finally goes to Burke’s room to take care of him after his surgery. That was a really sweet, selfless moment for such a narcissistic (but really, we love her) character.
Derek and Meredith finally hook up, and it's hot. I don’t even like Derek and Meredith and I thought that was hot. I wasn’t too fond of the guilty looks he was shooting Addison afterwards though. Sometimes you just have to be a man, McDreamy. The episode ended of course, on Meredith's choice between Derek and Finn. We’ll have to wait at least three months to see who it is (unless you’re so inclined as to look it up on the net - in which case I wouldn’t blame you).
The couple this episode actually sold me on was Alex and Izzie, after he carried her from Denny’s bedside. The way he's been acting lately it was nice to see him be so caring and selfless towards another human being. You can tell he cares for Izzie very deeply.
Ack. So utterly heartbreaking.

Hi TV Chit Chat,
Loved it! Love it, love it, love it!
This show also plays out like a romance novel....
I also particularly loved...is it Alex (sorry, I'm a latecomer to Grey's)? The guy that played the Spanish dork in J.Lo's 'The Wedding Planner'... I loved how he carried Izzie out of her fiance's arms...
Was truly beautiful.
I'm rushing out to buy the show on DVD.

P.S. I love McDreamy and Meredith...what is it about them you don't like?

I love that quality about it, the romantic aspects.
(And ooh, a reason to rewatch the Wedding Planner I think. I didn't know the actor was in that). I think he was the one I loved in this episode too. Sometimes he can be such an arrogant character, but I think he's just hiding how damaged he really is.
Hm. I guess I don't like how selfish they both come across. The way McDreamy lied to his wife and said that he wanted to make it work when he clearly didn't. Because I adore Addison. But I think they both might be growing on me again.
Thanks for commenting!

Hi Emily,
Yes, the romance parts have truly hit me with their brilliance...love is timeless! This show is so popular, it must be!
Watch 'The Wedding Planner' again...you will crack up at this guy, and swear he is (I think) Spanish...may be Italian...can't remember. He's hilarious in it, though...and I remember not believing he's actually American when the show started!
I can see what you mean about their selfishness...he has to be married, though, to be truly unattainable...that's what's (supposed) to make it all so sexy.
Loved your post.
