Grey's Anatomy: Let the Truth Sting
October 13th 2007 05:07
Rest in peace Charlie (a.k.a. Really old Guy). After a year in a coma, the man we’ve come to know as Really Old Guy woke up, and, surprise! He was only semi comatose. As in he could hear everything that went on when our favorite interns-now-residents ate their lunch in his room all of last year. He wakes up and decides he wants to die. After he’s had lobster of course. Izzie tells him he can’t just will himself to die and that he’s not going to on her watch. Sadly, he does die though, and everyone gets together in his room to say something nice about him.
Meanwhile…Sloan and the Chief decide to take on a type of surgery that’s hardly ever been done—they’re going to try and create a new tongue for a woman using material from her leg. George isn’t so sure they should do it, thus bringing about a rather funny scene where the two insist that they’re not too old to learn new tricks.
Martin Spanjers (a.k.a. Rory Hennessy in 8 Simple Rules) shows up at the hospital and his mother insists he’s on drugs. Alex’s new older intern (who he can’t yell at because he feels like he’s yelling at his grandpa) talks too much and it turns out the poor kid really did have major problems in his brain and spinal fluid.
Derek is called in to help out on the tongue surgery when things get tricky, and at the same time he’s needed to help the kid. He tells Alex what to do and…*insert nasty giant needle and eye scene* I don’t know what it is about eyes, but I can watch the grossest of surgeries and murders, etc. but when it comes to poking sharp things in eyes I just can’t do it. Believe me, it took me forever to learn to put my contacts in.
Anyway, Bailey keeps dropping in on Callie to tell her everything her interns are doing wrong, but by the end she admits to having problems not being number one anymore. But she will be the best number two ever in the history of the hospital. Meredith and Lexie fight again, but then kind of have a moment at the end when Meredith shows Lexie her mother’s file about the day she died.
Oh yeah, and Christina pretends to be sad over Burke so that she can get all the good surgeries Meredith gets in on.
One final note: I usually really like Alex, but what he did to George in the elevator (telling all the interns about the fact that George was an intern last year) was just mean. And I don’t want an Alex/Lexie thing goin’ on now either.

I've got to stop reading these - the new season of Grey's hasn't started here yet.

I’m just glad to find out someone is actually reading them!

Your episode synopsis was very well written.
Alex was a jerk in the elevator. I guess the old Alex is never too far from the surface.
