Glee: Silly Love Songs

Hot off his football win, Finn takes it upon himself to give back to a charity (Glee), now that’s he’s the closest thing they have to a celebrity right now. So, what’s his plan to make money? Setting up a kissing booth, of course! And maybe, in the meantime, get Quinn to kiss him again, seeing as how she’s the only girl in school who won’t kiss him. Quinn isn’t buying it, and when Sam thinks there’s something fishy about the fact that she won’t kiss Finn to raise money for Glee, exasperated, Quinn finally agrees to do it. When Finn sees fireworks though, it’s clear she’s felt something too, and rushes back to his booth (“I forgot my purse…”) to tell him to meet her in the auditorium later, where she tells him she can’t cheat on Sam, because it’s the very thing that made Finn break up with both her and Rachel. For some reason, this doesn’t seem to bother Finn when he’s the one doing the cheating, and he gets her to kiss him again.
Meanwhile, when everyone finally stands up to Santana’s constantly putting them down, she goes off to cry, then does what Santana does best: Get revenge. Borrowing the germs of a student sick with mono (she’s had it so much it’s turned into stereo), she goes up to Finn’s kissing booth, and kisses him, knowing that if he’s fooling around with Quinn, they’ll both get it. When they both turn up to Glee super sick, everyone knows, and Rachel goes to the nurses office to tell Finn that she’s over him now. Mercedes helped her realize that she doesn’t need a man to be successful. She asks him if he really kissed Quinn, which he says he did, and when she asked what he saw when he did and he says, “Fireworks,” she asks if he ever saw them with her. Finn hesitates, and it’s enough for Rachel. Sadly, but accepting it, Rachel leaves. He’s inspired her love song assignment this week, and she breaks out into Katy Perry’s “Fireworks”. Mercedes, Tina, and Brittany join her.
Artie and Mike pair up this week to sing a love song to their girls (P.T.Y. “Pretty Young Thing”), and Tina breaks down crying because she’s so overcome with love when she’s singing her song to Mike, Ella Fitzgerald’s "My Funny Valentine".
Over at Dalton Academy, Blaine’s decided that since Valentine’s Day is his favorite holiday, he’s going to go all out this year. Think it’s too much to sing to someone on Valentine’s Day? When he gets his fellow Warblers to join him in what he’s calling the Gap Attach (the guy he likes works there), Kurt suddenly realizes that the guy Blaine likes isn’t him. At Rachel’s, he, Mercedes, and Rachel have a pajama party, where Kurt spills his woes over pizza, and Mercedes points out that both he and Rachel are so boy crazy. She doesn’t have a date for Valentine’s Day and “couldn’t give a rip.” She points out that all three of them are divas, and some of the most talented divas in the world all became successful when they were single. Rachel is shocked. Why didn’t she ever realize that before? As far as Mercedes is concerned, they all need to fly solo for a while.
When Blaine’s crush gets fired because of the Warblers’ impromptu Gap number, Blaine realizes he has no idea what he’s doing. Kurt admits that neither does he, and they agree to be like “When Harry Met Sally”. They don’t want to mess this thing up. Kurt gets the Warblers over to Breadsticks, where he invites all his New Directions friends over for his first annual Lonely Hearts Dinner. Whether they’re single, or in love and just there to support him, this is for everybody and “Silly Love Songs.” Single people, he says, this is our year!
Lauren: About those candies you gave me, they suck.
Puck: You ate all of them.
Lauren: I had to make sure they all sucked.

Finn: (to Santana): Do you ever get tired of tearing people down?

Rachel: (to Santana) Maybe you’re right, maybe I am destined to play the title role in the Broadway musical version of Willow but the only job you’re going to have is working on a pole!

Santana: Please. I’ve had mono so many times it’s turned into stereo.

Santana: Hi. So, I’m gonna need to borrow your germs.
~*~*~
Brittany: That’s my man and his legs don’t work.
~*~*~
Will: (on Tina’s performance, as she’s crying) Wow, that was, powerful. Almost TOO powerful.

Santana: I won’t tell Lauren to look out for poachers who might mistake her for the endangered white rhino.
Lauren: I heard that. Don’t make me rip that weave out ‘yo head.

Lauren: (to Puck) Can I be honest with you? I like you. I used to think you were smokin’ but a lot of that had to do with the fact that I thought you were mixed race and that never fails to get me going.

Lauren: (to Puck) You seriously think it’s that easy? I’m not desperate so if you really want this you best come correct ’cause I spell woman Z-I-Z-E-S. And I need to be wooed. You understand me? Woo.

Mercedes: Sometimes you have to choose between love and talent.

Santana: I’ll just marry an NFL player. They’re super reliable.

Finn: Cuz let’s face it Rachel, you’re better than anyone in this school. You don’t need me or any other guy to anchor you to Lima. You’re a real star. And you need to shine. Just because I can’t be with you, it doesn’t mean I don’t believe in you.
