Betty White to host Mother's Day SNL

March 12th 2010 05:16
This goes to show you just how popular Facebook has gotten over the past year, and how much the powers that be are starting to listen. Following a sudden fan Facebook fenzy to get the hilarious Golden Girl on Saturday Night Live, NBC announced today that Betty White will indeed host the May 8 episode.

From the Associated Press:

Executive producer Lorne Michaels says he can't think of a better way to spend Mother's Day weekend than with White.

The announcement followed a campaign on Facebook urging the sketch show to make White a host. The group attracted nearly half-a-million supporters.

White, whose starring roles include "The Golden Girls," was given a lifetime achievement award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January.

Looks like we'll have a movie adaptation of a hit show about an island. No, not that Island fans of Lost, but another one that goes by the name of Gilligan's. Warner Bros. and Atlas Entertainment have signed on with original series' creator Sherwood Schwartz (along with son Lloyd Schwartz), producers Charles Roven (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight) and Richard Suckle (Scooby-Doo), and writer Brad Copeland (Arrested Development, My Names Is Earl) to bring back Gilligan and the gang.

Not so sure how I feel about this. I guess if the casting was right (see the new Get Smart) it might be okay. On the other hand, are we going to get another Brady Bunch movie? What do you say? Is it worth it? Who would you cast as Gilligan?

A quick housekeeping update. :)

October 6th 2009 21:58

Hey everybody, just wanted to let you know that I’m a little behind on the recapping of a few shows, but I’m trying my best to get caught up! Also, in the next few days I’m going to try and make it easier for you to find recaps based on show and season. I’ll be creating main posts for each show where every episode is listed by season, number, and title. This way you can just click on the title and go to the recap. Much easier than scrolling through all the posts right? [ Click here to read more ]

CNN interviewed Mythbusters hosts Jamie and Adam about busting the “Moonlanding was faked” myth (sorry conspiracy theorists, looks like the whole flag waving without wind is perfectly simple physics after all), and dub astronaut Buzz Aldrin an honorary Mythbuster for finally giving one particularly annoying skeptic what was no doubt long coming to him...
