Introducing the TV Chit Chat Forums

December 9th 2008 21:08

I’ve been thinking about this for a really long time, and have finally decided to try it out. That’s right, I’ve created my own forums dedicated to all of my favorite shows. No more running around to half a dozen sites all over the net trying to remember logins and passwords for every different forum. Whoohoo!

The main forum is HERE but for those of you interested in only one show, here's a quick link to each of the seperate message boards with the others collapsed for easier viewing.

Supernatural

Bones

Chuck

Grey's Anatomy

Heroes

House M.D.

Lost

Moonlight

Hope to see you there!

NOTE: For those of you interested in just an X-files forum, see this post HERE to learn about Paula's new site!

Who would win in a fight…?

October 30th 2008 06:02
Same actor, different characters. You decide!

First up, we have The Vampire vs. The FBI Agent in David Boreanaz’s portrayal of two different characters from two very different TV shows. What say you Angel and Bones fans? Will it be the Vampire cursed with a soul, seeking redemption? Or the All-American FBI Agent risking his life in the name of truth, justice, and a decent slice of pie?

In this corner, Matthew Fox the oldest of five orphaned siblings. In that corner, Matthew Fox a medical doctor turned Island castaway leader. When you think about it, running a household of younger siblings is a lot like running an island of crazy castaways. Fox, party of 20, er no make that 15…14…13--wow, these castaways are dropping like hot unknown actors in Supernatural demon smoke!!

Next up we have James Pickens Jr. as Dr. Richard Webber (a.k.a. The Chief) on Grey’s Anatomy vs. James Pickens Jr. as Deputy Director Kersh on The X-files. Is the scalpel really quicker than the gun? Wait, did we ever see Kersh fire a gun? Whoa. Maybe The Chief has a better chance than I thought!

And finally, that’s right people, it’s David Duchovny as a witty self-deprecating FBI Agent in a relentless pursuit of The Truth, vs. a witty self-deprecating writer (non-practicing) in a relentless pursuit of his ex! *FLASH OF WHITE LIGHT* And finally, that’s right people, it’s—Okay, very funny, who stole the nine minutes of the fight?

Emmy snubs. Who would you nominate?

September 19th 2008 03:07

In three days, the people of TV will get together to congratulate each other on their awesomeness of making it through a Writers’ Strike shortened season. But a look at the list of nominees makes me think, wait a second, there’s some good people missing here…

Sure, we all have our favorites who we just “know” should have made it not only through to the nominees, but all the way to win right? Sure, maybe somewhere deep down we secretly know that, okay maybe they weren’t the best…but still…Haha

But in all seriousness, I do think there were some very good actors and actresses who were overlooked this year.

First off, let’s talk about Henry Ian Cusick, otherwise known as Desmond on Lost. Does anyone else think that he did an awesome job this year? I mean, seriously, I became a huge Desmond fan this year, and The Constant was a very complicated, very well acted episode. I’m so glad he and Penny finally found each other!

While I’m on the subject of Lost, how about Yunjin Kim and Daniel Dae Kim playing married couple Sun and Jin Kwon? I do believe their storyline was the one that made me cry the most this last year. So very sweet, and when Sun’s screaming at the end of the season when the boat blows up? I was screaming and crying just as hard! Jin’s death was just wrong! I mean seriously, he was SO CLOSE! I--Ahem, yes, well, you can see how I feel about that one…

Moving on, let’s talk a little bit about the boys of Supernatural. Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles have portrayed the Winchester brothers Sam and Dean better than any two actors I’ve ever seen play brothers. Their chemistry is amazing and don’t let the fact that this show is on the CW make you believe this is anywhere close to fluff acting. These guys are not mere eye candy people, they can seriously ACT! The depth of emotion they can play is amazing. They make me laugh, they make me cry, they make scream at the TV when anyone messes with my Winchesters! Oh yeah, and the Impala? Awesome.

If there was an award for best ensemble cast, I would have to give it to the cast of Bones. This is one show where I actually love all the characters. And that doesn’t happen to me often! David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel have great chemistry, and the writing on this show is fantastic. Finally a crime-fighting show that actually has fully well-rounded characters that I can care about! It’s not all about the cool CSI effects, it’s about real people, witty banter, and chemistry. And I’m not talkin’ just the scientific kind.

And then there's Heroes. Granted it's definitely an ensemble cast, but if I had to pick only one person it would definitely be Masi Oka playing Hiro Nakamura. What can I say? I love the guy. His character is the one person who selflessly just wants to save the world.

On the comedy side, Zachary Levi is great in Chuck. His work as the Buy More Nerd Hearder turned secret spy computer is sweet, and funny, and the chemistry between Chuck and Casey, and Chuck and Morgan is fantastic. Maybe it’s just the geek in me, but I love these guys! And I love how the show is both a spoof and a spy show in and of itself.

David Duchovny. ‘nuff said. Oh wait, you need more? Okay, how about his work as Hank Moody, a character that we all should hate, but we can’t help but love. Honestly, I don’t think I’d like Californication if anyone else was playing Hank. David’s honest vulnerability and well-known fantastic dark wit makes Hank a guy we can all love despite his many flaws.

Finally, let’s talk about Moonlight. I know you guys know I still have a serious problem with CBS for cancelling the only vampire show I’ve ever loved (and I do mean LOVED!) Alex O'Loughlin was brilliant in this show as vampire/private investigator Mick St. John. The way he portrayed Mick, strong yet vulnerable, gave the guy an intensity and wonderful heart. Jason Dohring as witty and lovable Josef, Mick’s 400 year old best friend was great. These guys had a friendship that could rival the best of them. I so wish Moonlight would have been given another chance. With all the vampire hype this year (Twilight anyone? Tru Blood?) I bet CBS is wishing they hadn’t staked and burned our beloved Mick St. John now, huh?

Okay, well, there’s my two cents. I’m not saying that the people who were nominated didn’t deserve it, I’m just saying that it would be nice to see some of these people who’ve worked so hard for some many years on some great shows get the recognition they deserve.

So how about you guys? Who would you add to the list?

Only eight days until this year's Emmy Awards on ABC. I'm not really sure how I feel about them going the "reality way" (Tom Bergeron, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Jeff Probst, and Ryan Seacrest as hosts? Really? Hmmm…) But it's one of those things that could go either way, brilliant or a bomb, and I'm going to hope for the best...

Here's the updated list of presenters:

•'Desperate Housewives' -- Marcia Cross, Dana Delany, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria Parker and Nicollette Sheridan -- presenting together
•Hugh Laurie and Julia Louis-Dreyfus
•Tina Fey & Amy Poehler presenting together
•America Ferrera
•Laurence Fishburne & William Petersen presenting together
•Jennifer Love Hewitt
•Hayden Panettiere
•Vanessa Williams
•Kristin Chenoweth & Neil Patrick Harris presenting together
•Kathy Griffin & Don Rickles presenting together
•Conan O'Brien
•Christian Slater
•Kate Walsh
•Christina Applegate
•David Boreanaz
•Wayne Brady
•Lauren Conrad
•Kiefer Sutherland

Also, Josh Groban will be there to perform television’s greatest theme songs live!
From abc.com:
Josh Groban, who recorded last year's No. 1-selling CD, will perform a once in a lifetime medley of more than 25 of television's most memorable themes on The 60th Primetime Emmy® Awards, airing live, SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET/PT) on ABC.

"In honor of the Emmy Awards' 60th Anniversary, Josh's medley will touch on some of television's most resonant theme songs -- including from Friends, The Simpsons, The Brady Bunch and many more -- the actual full list of show titles is being kept a secret until the show. This will truly be an unforgettable performance," said Executive Producer Ken Ehrlich.

Aaaaand…Don’t forget to keep voting for your “most memorable moments” in both comedy and drama. See who made it to the second round and vote HEREfor drama and HERE for comedy! To see a list of the nominees go HERE.

I can’t believe it, but as of yesterday, it’s been a year since I took over the blogging of TV Chit Chat, and what a year it’s been! Aside from the (dare utter it?) Writers’ Strike and lack of awards shows, there were some definite quotable quotes, *GASP!* moments, and great new shows actually worth watching. And so, in honor of this season, I thought it only appropriate to recap the year in the form of…*ahem* original parody of a popular song
