A Very Supernatural Christmas

December 15th 2007 04:14

I hate having two CW stations that don’t show the same thing at the same time! ARGH! Long story short, I went to my sister’s Christmas concert on Thursday, came home all excited to watch the Supernatural Christmas episode and…found an hour recorded of a stupid message about having to black out the regularly scheduled programming because of some sports FCC thing. Grrr…One more reason I hate sports. LoL

Anyway, I finally got to watch the episode, and wow, what an episode to have to miss!! It was so good!

Sam and Dean investigate what Sam thinks is the Anti-Claus, Santa’s rouge brother who sucks people up chimneys. After some research and a call to Bobby, they find out they’re actually after some pagan gods who appear to be the best little happy old couple on the block.

More like sadistic torturing little old couple! After finding out that all of the victims bought a special wreaths made of meadow sweet, Sam and Dean track the wreaths to their house, where the overly peppy couple attack and tie the brothers up in the dining room…where they proceed to cut them both for their blood, rip out Sam’s fingernail, and start in on Dean’s tooth. Luckily a friendly neighbor stops by with a fruitcake just in time.

Thankfully the couple has a real Christmas tree and the Winchesters are able to rip it apart for handy dandy Christmas stakes to the heart.

Meanwhile, Dean wants to have a Christmas this year, and surprisingly, it’s Sam who hates Christmas! Not only because he can’t stand pretending to be all happy when he knows next Christmas Dean will be dead.  We see more of why Sam doesn’t like Christmas in a series of flashbacks.

Poor little Sammy wrapped a special present up for his dad, who never got to get back in time for Christmas. Sam ended up finding his dad’s journal, the truth about his mom and Santa all in the same night. *Sniff* Poor Sammy. And poor Dean for having to tell him.

Trying to do the right thing for his little brother, Dean snuck out and stole some presents and a mini Christmas tree from a house down the road. He tells Sam that their dad showed up and tried to wake him up, but had to leave. Sam opens the presents, gets a Barbie and realizes that his dad never really showed up. Dean tells him he swears, “I didn’t know they were chick presents.”

Little Sammy then gives Dean the present he wrapped carefully for his dad because he wants Dean to have it. When Dean asks him if he’s sure, Sam says yes because his dad lied to him but Dean didn’t. We finally find out where Dean got that necklace he always wears! Awww, I love that!

Back in the present day, Sam suddenly has a change of heart, and goes all out decorating their hotel room for Christmas—complete with eggnog, a “Merry Christmas” banner and a tree decorated with air fresheners. How great is that?!

Sam and Dean exchange gifts bought from the gas station down the road, and for once we get to see what they are! For Sam: “Skin mags! And…shaving cream!” For Dean: “Look at this, fuel for me and fuel for my baby.” (a.k.a. a candy bar and coolant for the Impala) They sit back and watch the game.

I LOVE IT!! Such a great episode. Had me shouting at the TV and tearing up all in the same episode.

PS—3 out of 3 of my favorite Christmas episodes of my favorite shows have used “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” during my favorite scenes. No wonder it’s my favorite Christmas song!

Quotes of the Week:

Sam: Yeah. It's pretty much like putting a neon sign on your front door, saying "Come kill us."

Dean: Great.

~*~*~

Dean (to shop owner): We were playing Jenga over at the Walsh's the other night, and he hasn't shut up about this Christmas wreath. I don't know. *Looks over to Sam* You tell him.

Sam: Sure.*pauses, to look at shop owner* It was yummy.

~*~*~

*after busting into the drunken Santa’s house and realizing he’s not their killer…*

Dean: …*singing* Silent night…holy night

*nudges Sam*

Dean and Sam: All is calm…*they sort of mumble sing as the Santa laughs and Sam pulls Dean out the door*

~*~*~

Santa's Elf: Welcome to Santa's Court. Can I escort your child to Santa?

Dean: Um, no. But actually, uh, my brother here, it's been a life long dream of his.

*Sam looks confused*

Santa's Elf: I'm sorry, no kids over 12.

Sam: He's just kidding. We only came here to watch.

*Dean smirks and shakes his head*

Santa's Elf: Ewww.

Sam: No wait, I didn’t mean watch…*turns to Dean* Thanks. Thanks for that.

~*~*~

Creepy Old Man/Pagan God: You Mr. better show us a little respect.

Sam: Or what? You’ll eat us?

~*~*~

Creepy Old Lady/Pagan God: Oh my goodness me, somebody owes a nickel to the Swear Jar. You know what I say when I feel like swearing? Fudge.

Dean: I’ll try and remember that.

*later…*

Dean: You fudgin’ touch me, I’ll fudgin’ kill you!

Creepy Old Woman/Pagan God: Very good.
