Grey’s Anatomy A Change is Gonna Come

September 28th 2007 05:55

Poor George. But at least he came back!

Just in case you didn’t remember where we left off last season, George failed his intern exam and must repeat the year, Cristina was left at the—well, not really the alter, more like the back of the church, Izzie told George she loved him, and Meredith finished with, “It’s so over.” Oh, and we met Meredith’s half sister, Lexie.

OK, so that was last season. The new season kicks off with our favorite interns starting off their first day as residents with their own interns. Burke and Addison are gone (the latter can be found on the new Grey’s Anatomy spinoff Private Practice on Wednesdays) and Bailey can’t seem to wrap her mind around why the chief picked Callie over her.

**Spoiler Alert**

A severed arm, a man who eats anything in sight, and a deer make an appearance in this weeks episode. Yes, that’s right people, I did say a deer. Like Bambi. And Izzie gets to save it with a defibrillator in the back of a truck. How cool is that?

Oh, I almost forgot! After avoiding her the entire time, George finally shows up at Izzie’s doorstep with four words: “I love you to.”

Uh-oh. Maybe I should have started out with poor Callie...

House: Alone

September 27th 2007 03:35

That was hilarious (and then very sad, but let’s focus on the good for now). Kidnapping House’s guitar? Brilliant. And did anyone else notice the definite difference in camera movement? Lots of handheld action going on. Kind of reminded me of Lost for a second. If Lost took place in a hospital of course...without Others or a scary--OK, so it didn't really remind of Lost except for the handheld-ness. haha

The new season of House started out with a bang. Literally. A building collapses on a young woman, and she’s rushed to the hospital; where it turns out everything her boyfriend and mother thought they new about her turns out to be wrong. Cuddy makes a deal with House: solve the case, she’ll go away for a week. House is forced to try and solve the case alone now that he has no team, and ends up dressing up the janitor to follow him around in a lab coat.

I really liked this episode. Even though half the regular cast was gone, it was funny to watch House insist that he didn’t need a team when he so obviously does. When he refuses to interview anyone, his guitar ends up kidnapped and tortured. Convinced Wilson stole his guitar, House kidnaps one of his cancer patients in retaliation.

Bones: The Widow’s Son in the Windshield

September 26th 2007 03:51

You gotta love a cannibalistic conspiracy! Bones spends most of the episode trying to avoid going out in the field with Booth—which she blames on the fact that she’s trying to find a replacement for Zack who has been in Iraq since we last saw him. Zack eventually comes back and the team is reunited. (Thank you Bones for not dragging that storyline out!)

Angela and Hodgins hire a PI to try and find out the man she married so they can finally get married. But in the meantime...when you can’t get married, why not go get your hair done?! Hodgins’ hair is so short I almost didn’t recognize him at first because I was busy thinking, hmmm…is the lighting different? Because Angela’s hair definitely looks lighter. But the winner for most drastic change in hairstyle goes to Zack, which is understandable seeing as how he just got back from the war.

I loved the end when Bones is so busy talking about the case (which, by the way, isn’t totally solved by the end) Booth stops her at the last second from burning her mouth with hot coffee.

*Bones sticks out her hand and Booth laughs, then shakes it*
Bones: What’s funny?
Booth: I thought you were gonna kiss my hand again.
Bones: I didn’t kiss your hand, you put it over my coffee cup.
Booth: Felt like you kissed it.
Bones: No.
Booth: Felt like it.
Bones: Nope.

Heroes: Four Months Later

September 25th 2007 16:19

As the name of the episode states, the new season of Heroes started about four months after we last saw Peter Petrelli get flown up by his brother to explode while all the other Heroes watched. And this new season started out with a bang.

Claire and her family have moved to California to start a new life—one where she’s give a car a month before her birthday and told not to do anything that might bring attention to her in her new school. And includes trying out for cheerleading. Hiro meets up with his hero, who turns out to be an Englishman who (much to Hiro’s shock and disappointment), does the job not for honor but for money. A mistake of identity on Hiro’s part has unwittingly changed the course of history.

Back in present day, Hiro’s father and Nathan and Peter’s mother get death notices in the form of their picture with a strange mark on them that just so happens to resemble the mark we see on Hiro’s hero’s sword and flag.

Meanwhile, Matt and Suresh are in charge of Molly (remember that little girl who could find anyone in the world by thinking about him? Yeah, that Molly). Matt’s divorce has gone through and he’s just made detective. A very bearded Nathan makes an appearance speaking of his dead brother and father, and we meet a few more Heroes:

A man with the Midas touch of turning things to gold, and a boy at Claire’s school, who just happens to be the first person she runs into. Okay, she nearly gets run over by his car in the parking lot into school on the first day, but you get my point. There’s also a brother and a sister, Maya and Alejandro who are running for America from Honduras to meet up with the man who wrote the book that could save her. We don’t really know what Maya’s power is yet, just that she somehow managed to kill all the other illegal aliens in the truck when they forced her from her brother’s side.

***
SPOILER ALERT: Hiro’s father gets pushed off the roof just as Ando shows up with a sword to help him. Sad. I liked that guy. I was hoping he had some sort of hero power to let him survive the fall…
***

But even I won’t spoil the end for you, you’ll just have to go watch the episode yourself.

"Chuck" Premiere

September 25th 2007 01:56

Nine minutes into this show I knew I was going to like it. What can I say, a spy show with a great sense of humor? It’s like a hilarious version of 24. The show starts out with the main character, Chuck, and his best friend Morgan trying to sneak out of Chuck’s own birthday party because they don’t know anyone who was invited

And the Emmy goes to…

September 17th 2007 05:06
Tony Bennett! The legendary singer/songwriter’s special Tony Bennett: An American Classic won the most awards this year with 7 (including Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program and Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special), followed by the made for television movie Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee with 6. 30 Rock won for best comedy and (no surprise here) The Sopranos went out with a bang, becoming only the second show ever to win Best Drama after going off the air.

The Jameses went head to head, with a surprising result—Spader of Boston Legal ended up winning against fellow nominee Gandolfini. Upon accepting his award Spader said with surprise, "Oh my goodness, I feel like I just stole a pile of money from the mob—” Looks at the cast of The Sopranos. “And they're all sitting over there

This is a hard one. Three of my favorite shows are nominated for this year's Emmy Awards: Grey's Anatomy, House, and Heroes, and I'm not sure which one I'd choose if I had to pick only one. This was the first sesason of Heroes, so I could see them going Lost-like and winning then getting overlooked every season after that (grrr)...or not. Depending on which episode they nominated, they might actually have a chance. House and Grey's Anatomy both had good seasons (as usual), with Grey's and Hugh Laurie winning the Teen Choice Awards. Then again, this is the last season of The Sopranos...

Personally, I think Lost, Bones, and Supernatural had great seasons...[ Click here to read more ]

In my morning paper I ran across an article talking about a new release of songs featured on the new official soundtrack for Fox’s hit series, House, and it looks like it’ll be pretty good. If nothing else, we’ll get to hear "House" sing.
